Description: AJ's Oldtown Steakhouse & Tavern is known locally as the "Historic Waterfront". AJ's is proud to be serving up the top 2% of USDA Prime Beef offered in the Nation and the only on the Kenai Peninsula. Offering mouth-watering steaks & great seafood including Scallops, King Crab, Fresh Halibut & Salmon! Let's not forget those delicious cheese burgers, the Tavern Menu, Spirits and Specialty Martinis in a casual old town atmosphere! This venue also features great family entertainment & dinner music before 10pm. If your looking for food late...AJ's is the last Kitchen open in Homer. Come in and see what's new. The transformation is amazing! We've kept the old town hospitality tradtion going and are still serving Homer's famous Red Knot Craft Beer, the Old Town Rusty Nail & some amazing specialty martinis! Some history...Established in 1941 AJ's has an amazing history. The front part of the building was built as the original women's club in 1937. Laura & Walt purchased it from the women's club and it opened as the first cafe & bar in Homer in 1941. They named it the Homer Cafe & Club. It featured just a few bar stools, a pool table, and a tiny kitchen. Over the years it has had many owners including Tex & Marge Sharp. They named it the "Waterfront" and it became known as the best place on the peninsula to get a good steak! In the 1970's folks would spend hours at the Waterfront being entertained by the likes of Harley Hess & Hobo Jim. In the 1990's it became Duggan's and featured a friendly, Irish Pub atmosphere. Now, as AJ's, the old town building has come full circle back to the ol' Waterfront days, featuring great Steak, Seafood, Spirits & Entertainment, along with the same friendly old town hospitality that has been a tradition for over 70 years.

Located near the driftwood lodge this was a great option for dinner. 10oz steak with peppercorn sauce, greens and mash potatoes was $21 - a real steal! The steak cut so easily and melted in your mouth. Service was good but a little slow. This was understandable given how popular the place was. On Saturday there was also a local... More

the service was a bit slow, but the food made up for it , and slowing down was the idea for the trip, they did not make us feel rushed even though we stayed past closing, the king crab was fantastic and the crab Caesar sala d was to die for!!

We visited AJ's for the Hobo Jim concert on a Tuesday night in July. We had a fabulous time! We came for dinner and our expectations were exceeded. The highlight for me was the sirloin steak--I haven't had steak that good and tender in a long, long time. So beautiful! Also tried the local blueberry merlot which was really good--not... More

An interesting mix of locals, tourists, oddities and inebriated in a mid-scale venue. Made reservations through their Internet service. That worked smoothly. The tables were full at 6:30 on a Wednesday evening. Our waitress provided very good, attentive service. Cocktails brought, a generous mix in my Crown & water. Two of our party had Alaskan beers, one a merlot. Wine... More

Best halibut and filet mignon that we have ever had! Fantastic service and food. Our kids even cleaned their plates. Dessert is fantastic. Only a few minutes off the beaten path. If you are in Homer, you need to eat here!

The red salmon I had was excellent. They can cook your meats or fish in several ways as mentioned in the menu. The desserts were delicious. There is entertainment some evenings. The wait staff was attentive. The prices are reasonalble for Alaska.
