Stopped here for lunch during a four day visit to Haines. The special that day was fresh caught halibut and salmon fish and chips. What a treat! I had never had battered and fried salmon and it was delicious. The portion was large--4 pieces of battered salmon and 2 of halibut. The fish was excellent. The fries were hot and... More

My husband had the teriyaki bowl & I had the fried chicken. Although there were 3 pieces of chicken (a leg, a thigh, & a breast), it looked like it had come off of a cornish game hen the pieces were so small. The teriyaki bowl was more like a cup. The service was spotty & the server had problems... More

Our party of 3 adults waited over an hour for our meal here when there were only 2 other tables. I have been to Haines several times and live in Whitehorse so am aware of 'Alaska Time'. There were 2 people in the kitchen and a lot of laughing and joking going on. Our order was nothing fancy and I... More

Every time a get somewhere close to the ocean, I have to try some of the local chowder. The seafood chowder here rates up there but it was just wasn't creamy enough to make it into the top five. The rest of the food was good, flavourful and fresh, especially the salad, and the beers we had were local (... More

We had a really good experience in this restaurant and a really bad one too... Good food, service is sometimes odd, but overall is not a bad place in a town with limited options.

We ate at this restaurant at the same time as a small tour group arrived and perhaps that effected our experience. We ordered the fish chowder. Mine was all white liquid with not a single piece of seafood. My wife got one tiny piece of seafood and she felt like she won the Lighthouse fish chowder lottery. We also ordered... More

we had very good service, but the kitchen was a bit slow. The food was fresh and tasty. I would return.

This restaurant has a nice view of the harbor if you get a table near one of the small windows. Food was fine, but nothing special or exciting. The best part of the meal was the small side salad that came with the meal - it had cranberry bits in it and a lovely cranberry vinaigrette dressing. The house wine... More

The taste of the food was OK, but the serving was quite small (I'm European; when we say "small serving" this means "tiny" by American standards :)) and the service was bad. I wouldn't go there anymore.

I guess it all depends on the day? We ate lunch here during busy lunch time. We both had the Salmon pita and Alaskan Amber. The food was great and so was the beer. They were not stingy with the salmon and the pita was done just right. The Alaskan was on tap. The pitas were $9.99 each, which for... More
