I worked next door and came into this place almost every day (no exaggeration). You really wouldn't expect to find such amazing pastries in Southeast Alaska, or such delicious coffee. First, the pastries! Their sticky buns, which are my favorite, are a phenomenal mess of butter and sugar, sometimes studded with local fruit and usually coated in a layer of... More

Absolutely the best coffee in Haines! We went there every day and the staff are competent and friendly. We'll be back :)

Only place in Haines with free wifi. The Mediterranean pizza is delicious....hot & cheesy. Loaded with ingredients. Love the artichoke hearts. Really great espresso too. Nice cozy little place.

We dropped in for a sandwich and coffee. Their panini was great and came with yummy coleslaw, as was their coffee. They really need more seating though.

This is the only place in town where you can get hard ice cream. They have four flavors, and moose tracks is so good in a waffle cone. I recommend getting some quality ice cream here.

We were taking a stroll around Haines today, June 12th 2014, when we stumbled across the Rusty Compass. The majority of the eateries were closed (being the day after the weekly cruise ship visit) and we were tempted in by the seafood chowder special... we ordered one each along with a sandwich... this was my first ever try of seafood... I love my coffee. Being from Melbourne I know coffee. This place does it right. Perfect frothy creamy milk, just right temperature, flavoursome fresh cofffee. Amazing light anf crumbly blueberry scone too. Great for an afternoon stop, free wifi is always a plus.

We popped in grab a coffee while exploring the town of Haines. We were delighted to find out they had wifi! Nice lattes in a quaint little comfortable setting. Friendly service and a nice selection of gift items for purchase.

I can hardly wait each summer for the Rusty Compass to open up. I'm a daily customer. I grew up in Seattle and know my coffee. My friends who come to visit say it's the only decent cup of coffee they've had in southeast Alaska. I love sitting in here and relaxing. It's a cozy coffeehouse atmosphere that you can't... More
