Fireweed Ice Cream

The ice cream shop has very good ice cream and some tourist fun flavors. The Fireweed ice cream is very good and made with the petals from the fireweed plants you see everywhere in summer in Alaska. The ice cream is just very good in general. Open till 10:00 pm in summer.

The staff was super friendly and helpful! There are many choices in ice cream as well as shakes, etc. Great location - right off highway & near gas station. Quaint but hometown friendly

I liked it. I write about it in my blog: http://leahsdailydose.blogspot.com/2015/06/alaska-anchorage-and-more.html Most of the brands were not Alaskan. There was one, Alaskan Supreme. It had flavors like Alaskan Wildberry, and Fireweed and Honey. I sampled both, and they were great, especially the fire weed and honey, which the clerk told me was there best selling. Some of the other brands... More

One of several stores in the Tesoro Center on the intersection of the Whittier Highway and the road to Girdwood. The ice cream is pretty good, many choices. The first scoop is 3.50 and the second scoop is 3.25, so no bargain on the second scoop, as in some ice cream shops.

Yummy Alaskan flavors but I don't like ice in my ice cream. Very pricy. $14 for 2 double scoop cups.

My party loved the variety and quality! Thanks for the great treat. We also enjoyed the packaged snacks to go. These were a welcome treat for travelers.

The name of the place is the Cone Shop... and it's got great ice cream!! We stop here almost anytime we are going past Girdwood. This little shop area is busy, so sometimes you have to get creative with parking... But it's worth it. I always get the rainbow sherbet and the wife goes for the moose tracks.

Fancy ice cream cones were enjoyed by all in our party. Good location as there aren't many shops in the area.

I've always said that I have a special compartment for ice cream, no matter how full I get. However, with the Ice Cream Shoppe in Girdwood has so many flavors to choose from, I'd need at least 31 special ice cream compartments just to taste all the goodness.

Well, it is actually Fireweed and Honey. Yum! Easy stop with some great local flavors to/from a Girdwood/Peninsula/AWCC/Glacier trip.
