Nice place to stop for a break

A very nice giftshop with items of interest at every price level. Plenty of caps, hats, and sweatshirts, as well as postcards and other memorabilia. The cafe serves a limited menu, but the sandwich we shared was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Staff was delightful and we were thrilled to see them. It was a cold April day when we went up to Portage Glacier. Finding these delightful ladies and freshly cooked food was wonderful. Enjoyed speaking with them.Hot Chocolate and Reindeer sausage were perfect. Inside the restaurant are a bunch of tables from which you can enjoy a bevy of stuffed... More

We frequent the Portage Cafe as we enjoy hiking, skipping rocks, and playing at Portage. Our favorite stop is always the cafe. In the fall they have the best pumpkin roll ever, hands down. No one's is better, and, if you are really nice to the cook - you can get her to make one for you and come back... More

This place is a gift shop and a cafe. Their menu has a lot of variety and claims to have the Universe's best seafood chowder. It was great ... The food seemed a little overpriced, but they are the only game in town. The hostess was very friendly and so was the staff at the gift shop who gave us... More

This lodge is both gift shop and restaurant a short drive from the Begich-Boggs Visitor Center at Portage Glacier, Alaska. In the past we did not have good experiences at this place (rude staff, not so great food), but we gave it one last try and are we glad we did! The facility has new owners and they have big... More
