Probably the best meal we had in the Cook islands

We heard about this cafe and we're also recommended so we popped in as it was just a short walk/bike ride from Aitutaki Escape,. We were in luck even though it was between opening times 2pm and 3pm. Set up by the hard-working owner several years ago, the cafe offers delicious organic food, most of which is grown in the owner's garden. Made with love, served with a smile. Make sure you pop in for a bite and a bag of organic fruit.

Hired a bike from my hotel ahead " to town". Rain fell and I stopped to the garden surrounded paradise. Older woman was the cook, her husband was Tauono, the grave was in the yard, as the habit is over there. I told them that my farthers brother was Tauno. They were so surprised! Other names are also similar to... More

This is without a doubt the best place in Aitutaki where to take a light meal or snack. The environment is very pleasant, quiet, cool, decorated with care and exudes an atmosphere of peace. The ingredients are all fresjh locally grown and made with passion. The kitchen of Sonia is sublime, with a few vegetables she can create delicious meals,... More

A couple we met while walking on the beach our first few hours on Aitutaki pointed out the path from the beach to Tauono's, and recommended it highly. We took them up on it the next day, and took home the breadfruit lasagna for dinner, as well as enjoying a glass of fresh guava juice before continuing our bike ride.... More

After all the rave reviews on TA we had to have lunch here. Sonja and Timatu deserve all the rave reviews they get. This place is sensational. We strolled through the gardens and learnt a lot about co-planting different vegetables and fruit just by the way the garden was planted. We had the breadfruit lasagne which was sublime. The accompanying... More

We have been to Aitutaki several times and Tauono's is our favorite place for food. Sonja is an amazing cook. The coconut cake is to die for!!! We also enjoyed the fruit and veggie market that is beside the restaurant.

We happened across this delightful restaurant and we are so glad that we did. There were about 9 of us and we all were so pleased with our meals. The breadfruit lasagne with the roasted bananas were a real treat. Tauono's is cool, welcoming and a very enjoyable place to eat. We wandered about the garden afterwards and it was... More

A friendly family owned small cafe set in their garden where they grow their vegetables. Was there twice in one week. The first time I had the breadfruit lasagne with assorted vegs. Delicious and something I've never had before. Their fruit smoothies was perfect: thick freshly blended juice made from seasonal fruits. The second time, I requested parrot fish which... More
