A couple we met while walking on the beach our first few hours on Aitutaki pointed out the path from the beach to Tauono's, and recommended it highly. We took them up on it the next day, and took home the breadfruit lasagna for dinner, as well as enjoying a glass of fresh guava juice before continuing our bike ride.... More

After all the rave reviews on TA we had to have lunch here. Sonja and Timatu deserve all the rave reviews they get. This place is sensational. We strolled through the gardens and learnt a lot about co-planting different vegetables and fruit just by the way the garden was planted. We had the breadfruit lasagne which was sublime. The accompanying... More

We have been to Aitutaki several times and Tauono's is our favorite place for food. Sonja is an amazing cook. The coconut cake is to die for!!! We also enjoyed the fruit and veggie market that is beside the restaurant.

We happened across this delightful restaurant and we are so glad that we did. There were about 9 of us and we all were so pleased with our meals. The breadfruit lasagne with the roasted bananas were a real treat. Tauono's is cool, welcoming and a very enjoyable place to eat. We wandered about the garden afterwards and it was... More

A friendly family owned small cafe set in their garden where they grow their vegetables. Was there twice in one week. The first time I had the breadfruit lasagne with assorted vegs. Delicious and something I've never had before. Their fruit smoothies was perfect: thick freshly blended juice made from seasonal fruits. The second time, I requested parrot fish which... More

We stayed on Aitutaki in October 2012 and had the pleasure of lunching at Tauono's cafe. The food was superbly prepared, beautifully presented and extremely tasty. What Sonja does with vegetables is nothing sort of spectacular and the flavours are outstanding. A 'must go to' venue.

Outdoor cafe which we visited for lunch during our stay in Aitutaki.. quaint location nestled in the trees and vegetable garden of which most of the food is grown. I was impressed by the total use of local food and wonderful tasting lemonade, cherry drink and gorgeous mahi mahi. I made sure I bought Sonja's cook book. She was also... More

First of all: The food is wonderful. Very good products prepared with love, unique and special flavours (almost Indian at times). We especially loved the breadfruit lasagna that came with different, inventive sides each time. The homemade lemonade was delicious as well. Sonja was also very friendly and helpful. She even gave us some natural remedies for my husband's sunburn,... More
