seriously? this is considered a restaurant? uneven picnic tables under a plastic tarp, overlooking a scruffy garden and broken shells and artifacts? oh and to get to the, um, rustic toilet I had to walk through the help's bedroom. I have to admit the food was tasty and fresh and lovingly presented. portions were small and brutally expensive (a small... More

We liked the coconut cake so much that we went back for lunch! Great to try local food. Sonja is lovely and we had a great chat with her. The breadfruit lasagne was delicious and had so many different sides to taste. Very friendly service and delicious local food. Don't miss Tauono's!

This was a lovely and relaxing dining experience. The menu was extensive with several specials. The food was beautifully presented and tasted great. The staff were friendly and attentive without being too intrusive.

We we're lucky to discover this little gem whilst on Aitutaki - the home made home grown organic food, lovely garden setting and friendly staff made it a wonderful eating experience. The owner Sonja is a fun interesting local lady who ensures everybody receives a meal they enjoy. We loved it so much we went there twice in 3 days!... More

Lovely place for cake and coffee at this garden cafe. The coconut cake was absolutely delicious as was the homemade lemonade.

We had bought Sonja"s (owner) cook book in Raro the previous year and were looking forward to visiting this unique and honest cafe which is basically located in the front garden of their house. A small eating area on wood benches and tables had lots of charm. We were staying very close by which meant we could use their takeaway... More

Tauono's isn't a restaurant as it purports to be. If it needs categorising, it would be closer to a garden cafe than any other type of eatery. We attempted to eat there today. I'm unsure as to what the lady who runs it is really trying to do. The lack of consistent, professionally run service, the length of time to... More
