It may not have beach views but it makes up for this with it's atmosphere and cook island feel. From the brightly coloured table cloths to the sand floor - make sure you wear suitable footwear! Overall the casual feel with good food and service made the night memorable.

I'd read about Tupuna's before travelling to Aitutaki, so when we drove past it I knew we had to go for dinner. Although it's out of the main resort area, if you have transport, it's well worth the trip. The four of us enjoyed a great meal here and the prices were similar to what you'd find in most NZ... More

What a let down this restaurant was. An overpriced tourist trap. We followed a recommendation to order the mud crab at $80 - we were told there would be plenty for two of us (one hungry man and myself), the two others ordered separate meals ... WHAT A JOKE. the legs arrived swimming in a soup the body was nowhere... More

this is rated best on the island, but food is a little heavy for my tastes- i'd prefer more local food, and without the heavy sauces

My wife and I spent 5 nights on Aitutaki in August 2014. Tupuna's was marketed to us by our hotel manager as "the Best" on the island so we had to give it a try. It's food was average at best relative to Samade's and Tamanu. It was also about twice as expensive as comparable meals elsewhere on Aitutaki. Perhaps... More

Service there was terrible and the waitresses were rude Staff forgot drink orders on more than one occasion and had to be reminded. The fish I ordered was dry and over cooked and hardly worth the cost. A friend of mine ordered a dessert and was given something completely different which they made zero effort to apologise or rectify the... More

Here we go, as a comparison to the setup that is Tauono's, down the road, I seriously get the eclectic charm vibe at this place, Tupuna's. Casual & eclectic it has a pleasant & relaxed atmosphere, amply helped by the down to earth & approachable wait staff. Speedy service & little waiting time between courses was impressive and much appreciated... More

This place is a must! I had a massive Crayfish with all the trimming for $89.00 . It was large enough for at least two. The steak was good and the fish fabulous!!

From the time we hopped on the Air New Zealand plane to the following week when we finally ate there we had heard nothing but good things about Café Tupuna and the crab in particular. We were not disappointed and the mud crab was the best we have tasted ever. Just the right balance of heat and spice with the... More

Who would guess that at this cosy inland restaurant there is a star chef who has such an amazing reputation that it's essential to book. Highly recommend this fabulous place for dinner. The tropical garden surrounds and raked sand floors add ambience to what was a delicious meal. Top marks for all four meals at our table.
