New Tamarara

Waterfront, French Polynesia
Improve this listing
Ranked #4 of 9 restaurants in Huahine
Cuisines: Seafood
Dining options: Reservations
Description: New Tamarara is located on the island of Huahine. Here is the review I was going to post: Located walking distance from Hotel Maitai Lapita along the waterfront promenade, just outside of the village of Fare, this is a must for sunset cocktails and/or dinner. Watch the sailboats bob in the harbor as the sun sets over Raiatea, or tuck into some fresh mahi mahi (made a multitude of ways; if you were hoping to order one of the other types of fish on the menu, be prepared for them to be out of it and suggest the mahi mahi). Portions are large, prices are moderate, and service comes with a huge smile and lots of laughs.

Do you want to eat authentic Tahitian food and other delights at a restaurant 15 feet from the south Pacific? Do you want to see the most incredible sunsets ever? Do you want totally fresh fish? Do you want to pay a price that would be laughable in the US? I mean , for instance, a dinner of fresh tuna... More

We ate here on our last night in Huahine and had a lot of fun - in part because the Mai Tais actually had a decent amount of alcohol them and we were hammered pretty quickly. The place is as laid back as all of Huahine and we met a lot of locals right off the bat - always fun!... More

After our first day diving, we were famished and went looking for New Tamarara restaurant which we'd read about about Trip Advisor. After having some trouble finding it, a local told us that it is now the Huahine Yacht Club. Not sure which restaurant joined which but anyways this place was very nice and authentic, located right by the water... More

Enjoyed a fish dinner here one evening. Rustic spot that feels genuinely French Polynesian. Friendly staff and good food. stopped in for a couple of drinks on another occasion. Recommended for a local experience.

Really fresh fish and nice bar. Good service! If you get a table outside, you have a great view of the island and the tiny harbor. Make sure to try to Spicy Coconut Mahi Mahi

Great location in Fare right on the waterfront. About USD$35 total for two of us: Possion Cru, Hmaburger and one beer. Good value and nice view. 5 min walk along the beach from Maitai Lapita Village

The Mahi Mahi (with pepper sauce) is good, and the Tuna/shashimi was interesting. Good cocktails. Great views.

We had the cocoanut-crumbed mahi-mahi, which we didn't find spicy, but it was good. Lots fo flies. The cocoanut cake was great. Watch out for the drunk Tahitians, who gather at this drinking hole on the beach.
