This review is strictly based on the bungalow stay. First of all, Tara and her family are amazing. Words can not express how kind and warm they are. They took me in like a member of their family. The bungalow is in a tree and over the beach. The balcony puts you directly over the water. I stayed 4 nights... More

Chez Tara was located next door to where we were staying - Relais Mahana. Unfortunately due to miscommunication with the front desk staff we missed the traditional Sunday Polynesian lunch buffet, which was a bummer. We ended up eating here on a Sunday night instead. It was very quiet but our meals were delicious and service was fast. Both my... More

Chez Tara is located on the western side of Huahine Iti, as the name says, the smaller of the two islands making up Huahine. It takes about 20 minutes to drive from Fare, the only town and 35 minutes from the airport. The drive down to Chez Tara is lovely and the beach side setting of this restaurant is beautiful.... More

We went back for lunch twice and dessert another time while we stayed in Huahine since the food was so fantastic. It was also nice to take advantage of the free internet!

You won´t find a better mahi-mahi fish cooked with vanilla from the local plantations, yummy! And don´t miss the Sunday cooking: the owner gets up at 3.00 a.m. to prepare food the traditional Polynesian way: whole in the ground heated with stones, food wrapped in banana leaves cooked for many hours, so juicy!

We visited Chez Tara as part of our Huahine island group tour. The food was authentic and delicious! And so much of it! There was a huge buffet with many options to choose from. A band played traditional music while we ate with our feet in the sand.

The place is ideal, under the stars, all along the lagoon and the team is great. The chef uses wonderful local ingredients for good … or very average, owing to inattentive cooking. The restaurant rapidly became our favorite eatery while in Huahine, hence we had the opportunity to test it several times. Special mention to the ginger sauce.

i had read many reviews on this restaurant so made sure we went and was disappointed. the food was average especially when you consider the price paid for the meal. the drinks were ok, nothing special and service was terrible. i know we're on island time but our server completely neglected us--and the restaurant was practically empty! at least the... They do a Tahitian Buffet on a Sunday which is great. Make sure you get there promptly at 11am though.

Chez Tara was right next door to our hotel, Relais Mahana in Huahine Iti where there aren't any other dining options for tourists within walking distance.(Mauriii is closed indefinitely) Considering it's a small family run place, the food is still no bargain but nothing really is French Polynesia and at least the food here is pretty darn good. We loved... More
