Recently had the occasion to stay in San Jose twice in the past month, and ate at Olio's both times. There are a lot of restaurants in SJ, but few really good ones. Olio's is for those who want a authentic Italian food prepared with care and well served. If you go there more than once, you are greeted like... More

I have been to Olio's at night, when the rooms are kept very dark and the menu is larger than for lunch time. Nevertheless, I prefer to be here for lunch - the front room is airy and well-lit during the day, service is good and the set menu is good value. Not a bad place for a business lunch,... More

Have dined at Olio many times during the past several years. My most recent experience was very bad. Was there around 8PM on Wednesday. Only one other table was occupied. Ordered grilled tuna which was served lukewarm and tasted & smelled awful. Companion ordered French Fries. He received 9 fries and the price was $9. Tuna was $20. The train... More

The interior is dark and cozy, and the price you pay is that reading the menu requires night vision goggles. The relaxed ambiance is sometimes rattled by a train that passes right outside the window--but it only happened once during my dinner. I enjoyed a Pasta al Salmon which was pleasantly al dente and with nice, juicy pieces of salmon.... More

This is a higher quality-than usual spot and very popular with the business lunch crowd (I don't know about dinner). However, the most astounding thing about this restaurant is that it is literally within feet of an active locomotive line. The first time a train passed during my lunch I couldn't believe it. I was seated with my back to... More

I've been to Olio several times and I always love ordering the Pina Colada con Malibu...for me they are one of the best in San Jose! The menu is pretty extensive so you'll be taking quite some time looking and thinking what to order. I can't recommend one specific dish, because I always order something different, but the food is... More

Good restaurant for lunch. Could be better, maybe offer some different options on the menu (very basic food)

Named Olio, but most of the awnings say Bavaria. Cute little corner restaurant...nice, but not overly fancy. Had the papas bravas -- basically two potatoes cut in wedges and fried, but very good. We were given a wine sample (free) and sat outside. Waiters were not attentive after they brought our meals/drinks out (there was a couple at the table... More

I ate here twice, and while I came away satisfied both times, I found the service a bit slow, and the restaurant quite noisy. I was with a party of ten or so both times and I had a very hard time hearing conversation from folks across the table. The menu is varied, and the food was excellent. I had... More

Good food and atmosphere, attentive staff, some nice wines especially from Chile. I enjoyed the calimari.
