Nice place for a few drinks and good food.

Been here a few times and I always got good service, good food at a good price. It isnthe kind of place that remains consistent through time and caree about their custumers. Highly recommended for a quiet night out with friends, as a couple or even for a quick lunch.

Olio is an Italian restaurant located at the trendy Escalante neighborhood in San Jose. People respect it because service is attentive and prices are affordable. Nonetheless dishes have already been tweaked to please Costa Rican patrons, which is kind of disappointing. I must say I was not impressed. Nonetheless it is a safe choice.

First, San Jose has a very logical, but unique, way of describing addresses. It completely flummoxed both Google and TA. According to TA the only good restaurants were a cab ride away. In fact they were within blocks and the restaurants they did find were far from the locations provided. FIX THIS, TA! Until they do, pay attention to the... More

My wife and I have taken many a date night at Olio. The prices are reasonable, the menu is unique, and the food always comes out tasting very good. Our favorite part is when the commuter train rumbles past literally four feet from the building - the entire place shakes a little. The restaurant is dark and filled with friends... More

Recently had the occasion to stay in San Jose twice in the past month, and ate at Olio's both times. There are a lot of restaurants in SJ, but few really good ones. Olio's is for those who want a authentic Italian food prepared with care and well served. If you go there more than once, you are greeted like... More

I have been to Olio's at night, when the rooms are kept very dark and the menu is larger than for lunch time. Nevertheless, I prefer to be here for lunch - the front room is airy and well-lit during the day, service is good and the set menu is good value. Not a bad place for a business lunch,... More

Have dined at Olio many times during the past several years. My most recent experience was very bad. Was there around 8PM on Wednesday. Only one other table was occupied. Ordered grilled tuna which was served lukewarm and tasted & smelled awful. Companion ordered French Fries. He received 9 fries and the price was $9. Tuna was $20. The train... More

The interior is dark and cozy, and the price you pay is that reading the menu requires night vision goggles. The relaxed ambiance is sometimes rattled by a train that passes right outside the window--but it only happened once during my dinner. I enjoyed a Pasta al Salmon which was pleasantly al dente and with nice, juicy pieces of salmon.... More

This is a higher quality-than usual spot and very popular with the business lunch crowd (I don't know about dinner). However, the most astounding thing about this restaurant is that it is literally within feet of an active locomotive line. The first time a train passed during my lunch I couldn't believe it. I was seated with my back to... More

I've been to Olio several times and I always love ordering the Pina Colada con Malibu...for me they are one of the best in San Jose! The menu is pretty extensive so you'll be taking quite some time looking and thinking what to order. I can't recommend one specific dish, because I always order something different, but the food is... More
