We stayed at Hotel Grano de Oro our first and last nights in Costa Rica, so we were close to the airport. After our first night and our first dinner, we couldn't wait to get back for our next stay. The food was SO GOOD - fresh, and authentic. The service was great, and the scenery of the restaurant was... more
What can I say? Excellent food quality, excellent staff, excellent atmosphere, excellent value for our money! One of the best restaurants ever. more
I've been to Grano de Oro for breakfast and dinner and it is amazing food in a beautiful ambiance. I especially like to sit outdoors when the weather is nice, it is so relaxing and pleasant. more
When the cab was taking us through the streets, I was getting nervous. Pulled up front, surprised. Walked through the front door, impressed. After dinner, AMAZED. The restaurant and hotel are absolutely stunning. Service was excellent and the open air courtyard was just beautiful. Every item that our party of four ordered was presented magnificently, and had incredible flavor, texture... more

The fact that some mention this place as being expensive needs to be put into context...it is pricier than a lot of places in San Jose, but it is not expensive, per se. Especially when you compare what you get to... more
Nice place, yet food can improve more
The food? Good. Service? So-So. The insult? Unparalleled. I visited El Grano de Oro a few months ago, for my wedding anniversary dinner. I knew it was expensive, (for local standards) but I heard the food was great and the portions would leave you satisfied. We ordered grilled salmon, that came with caviar and vegetables. My surprise was when the... more
