A very family establishment

A short walk away from our hotel Grano De oro. We walked in, the only people in the restaurant besides an older man reading a newspaper with a young child doing her homework. Over priced but good food, best thing is location one block away from my dentist, Dr Cavaline and Dr Marco Peralta. We fly from the U S to go to these dentist for the excellent work and excellent cost, and this restaurant is a block or so away. Food was ok, nothing great and nothing special but we got a... More

We asked the staff at our hotel what their favorite local restaurant was in San José - they said Maria Bonita, and we agree! I had the enchiladas, and they were the best enchiladas I have had at any restaurant. Very flavorful with the perfect blending of spices in the sauce, and the best marinated meat. I also had the... Had the three pork tacos with cheese for lunch. Out of sight. Cheese melted into the delicious marinated pork. The salsa and chillero were an added flavor of greatness. Had the creeps for desert and equally good. Service was attentive from waitress as always . owned by a nice family who always greats you arriving and leaving. Been here many... More

Just stopped in for lunch one day as it was recommended by our hotel next to the dental clinic.. Tasty, not spicy hot. Nothing like the Mexican we eat at home. Was advised to try the flan but too full. Went back that evening to try it despite the fact I have never been particularly fond of previous encounters with... More

I've enjoyed eating at this restaurant on 3 or 4 different occasions: you can get a very decent meal at a good price served by friendly staff. An English language menu is available and will likely be bought to you without your asking. It has always been quiet when I have gone there. There is a nice touch at the... More

It's not exactly mexican food, although the dishes are good and fairly priced. I order from them for lunch often and i have some favorites and others that I don't even order anymore, it's all about testing and seeing what strikes your fancy.

Just had dinner at this cute authentic restaurant just up the street from Hotel Cactes in San Jose. We had two of the three soups on the menu and both were excellent. We had lunch there earlier with sea bass tacos and a plate with four different tacos, both were really great. Saw the local policia eating there also, so... More

This is an adorable. family run restaurant with good food and the BEST flan de queso ever! We ate there our first and last nights in Costa Rica and were pleased each time with the portion size, quality and freshness of food and good service. Don't let the humble appearance fool you. This is a great place for a good... More

We saw this place packed with locals and gave it a shot. What a great find. This is an inexpensive, friendly lunch spot with fresh, delicious food. We weren't disappointed. We ordered nachos, fajitas and enchilladas. The pico de gallo was fantastic and guacamole authentic and good. Fresh pineapple juice was a great surpise as well.
