I have eaten here before, but always dinner. This trip I had a dinner and a lunch. The best red snapper for dinner and "just a simple pasta" for lunch. Oh, but this simple pasta was just like a piece of the best Italy has to offer, a perfect portion-size, delicately seasoned and mmmmm.....some delicious "olives." No! Grapes! What a... More

Tommy is an excellent host and chef. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was awesome. The restaurant is a little hole in the wall place which is the kind of place I like. You owe it to yourself to try it!

My wife and I from Los Angeles had partnered with another couple from Denver for a day of shopping and museum hopping in downtown San Jose. We boarded a cab and then headed for La Bastille for a late afternoon lunch without knowing they close between lunch and dinner. However, Thomi the chef told us he could prepare us something... This place is great if you're looking for real French food in the city center. The location is very centric but not pretty, so it can be easy to miss. However, the service and food are great.

This trip I have eaten here twice and will have lunch tomorrow before departure. The food is spectacular and to sit with the chef at the end of the day and chat adds to the delightful ambience. I usually never read the menu, just ask what is best today. You get the story of the fish-monger, the veggie seller, the... More

This distinguished restaurant in the heart of san jose makes a nice place to go for dinner in a small group , as a couple or alone. I do not recomend it for big groups of 20+., as it is quite cosy like others mentioned, it basicaly operates with one waiter and the kitchen staff. speaking about kitchen, food,.. Thomi... More

I went to this place with big expectations, but it was a big dissapointment. Dishes are completely overpriced for what you get, the place has nothing special and quality of food less than average. The chef and the waiter are very polite and that is the only positive aspect of this place.

I have often wondered why people go to a restaurant that lacks a heart. Yet that goes for most of them. Surely there should be something that attracts and warms the spirit. I always look for restaurants with some musical entertainment. And by that I do not mean a squealing noise that one is forced to put up with in... More

Very down to the earth and unique like in our commercial world you barelely find anymore. Well select ingredients and Thomy make it "währschaft schmackhaft und einfach lecker" try the "Kalbsläberli with Röschti"!!!!

Would have loved to try this place out based on the positive remarks on Tripadvisor, however, we arrived too early. On a Thursday this place was closed until 7pm for supper which was just not going to work for us at the beginning of our trip after spending all day flying. We had to go elsewhere that was open.
