A Little Piece of France in San Jose!

After ten days of Tico food, this restaurant was a welcome change. The ambiance is fantastic, as well as the host. We later on met his wife who is the chef. She performed some magic in the kitchen in spite of not having some ingredients due to the delivery truck not showing up. It was four of us... read more

We decided to try it, given all the great reviews in here... I made the reservation weeks in advanced, apparently is very hard to find space on short notice. The restaurant is owned by a french couple and its actually their house, so its very cozy and nicely decorated. Only 10 people a night, we where 4 tables. The menu... More

I have to start by saying that I created this account on TripAdvisor just to rate La Terrasse - so that might speak for itself. Regardless, the evening (and I don't mean a couple of hours - we arrived at 8:45 and didn't leave until close to 2:00AM) we spent at La Terrasse proved to include not only some of... More

We certainly LOVED our evening at the French restaurant, La Terrasse. This restaurant is a little tricky for the taxi drivers to find; it’s in a residential part of San Jose in a private home owned by chef Patricia Richer and her husband Gérald. When our cabbie managed to find it (with the help of our phone GPS), Gérald was... More

I am so glad that I found Restaurant la Terrasse on Tripadvisor. It is once of the best dining experiences of my life, and possibly the best. I enjoyed a very special New Years Eve 2014 dinner with my parents, which we will never forget. Our host and chef Patricia made us feel very welcome, providing an enchanted evening with... More

The chef is excellent, the place is cozy and the service is great. Highly recommended for couples, friends, and business dinners. It is for small groups as the place is small.

We searched for this place because of the reviews. After much hiking around,we finally found it. Lovely spot in a house owned by a French couple. We felt lucky to have gotten a reservation! When we arrived, we were the only patrons and were treated very well! I wish I could say the same for the food.... My husband had... More

When they say that the French knows and loves how to cook, this is the place that proves it. Every dollar is worth the gastronomic delight of how the food is prepared, served, and savoured. Call and make reservations ahead of time as they only accept 10 patrons at a time. Also, finding this diamond in Otoya is somewhat a... More

We went here because it was the #1 ranked restaurant in San Jose on Trip Advisor. And the rating was spot on. There were 5 of us. We had 3 delicious appetizers (the pate was esp outstanding); 5 different entrees and each of us thought ours was the best: Scallops, lamb shank, mussels, lamb stew and duck; and 3 desserts.... Great food, wonderful friendly service, and lovely ambiance. One of those charming old world restaurants where one feels at home. If we had a few more days in San Jose, we would certainly gone back. Bring cash, no credit cards accepted.
