We went to this restaurant on our first night in Costa Rica and made a reservation for our last night half way through the dinner (because it was so good). The owner are very friendly and they passionate about their work, which is refreshing. The place can be hard to find (as there is no big sign in front of... More

For my business I have to go every year to Costa Rica ,this give me the opportunity to watch how the restaurants improve -or not. La Terrasse, with is chef Patricia, never desapoints and for years I hope !! The french fine pastry has been nicely extended, same for the range of french wine. Be careful and reserve in advance, this place look quite... More

My wife and I had hoped to try this number one rated restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though hard to find for tourists, we enjoyed our dinner very much from the salad and entrees to the dessert and great French wine. The owner and his wife were nice hosts though if you don't speak Spanish it might be a challenge.... More

We made a reservation seven days prior to our arrival. Spoke with the chief Patricia and the male manager or owner and confirmed with a phone call. Our reservation was confirmed for a party of three. On the day of our reservation, when we arrived we were told that we had no reservation and as a result we could not... More

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner at La Terrasse. It was great to live this culinary experience in San Jose. We had good advise for the wine. Our two entradas (starters) decoration were really original and they were delicious. This is the first time I tried salty profiteroles! The main dishes were also great : duck with wine... More

Fantastic food and wine tucked away not far from the centre of San Jose, and although not the cheapest in town, not too expensive either - we paid around 100 dollars for a 2 course meal with excellent wine for 2 people, and around 150 dollars for a tasting Christmas menu for 2 including wine on Boxing Day. Patricia, the... More

Wow. First of all, with the train passing probably about 20 m from the window and the lovely decorated place, you definitely don't feel you are in San Jose, but more the feeling you are in some sort of "petit" bistro in the Alps in France or in Lyon or Provence. The food is amazing, the menu changes quite frequently... More

The Richer's charming home was the perfect setting for a truly lovely Christmas dinner, as it would be for any dinner. Mr. Richer was very warm and welcoming, and an appealing blend of friendly and professional. The food was excellent from the starting cocktail with exotic fruit liqueurs to the Buche de Noel with praline cream and chocolate macaron. The... More

The whole experience was really great: a quiet environment, a quirky house in San Jose, a very entertaining host and a superb chef; add a fantastic wine list and our first night in Costa Rica was unforgettable.

Having read all the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor and having had a nice email exchange with the chef, Patricia, to set up the reservation, I was highly impressed with La Terrasse before even arriving for dinner. Nonetheless, Patricia and Gerald still managed to surpass my already high expectations... The setting of the restaurant is charming (although the building itself is... More
