When they say that the French knows and loves how to cook, this is the place that proves it. Every dollar is worth the gastronomic delight of how the food is prepared, served, and savoured. Call and make reservations ahead of time as they only accept 10 patrons at a time. Also, finding this diamond in Otoya is somewhat a... More

We went here because it was the #1 ranked restaurant in San Jose on Trip Advisor. And the rating was spot on. There were 5 of us. We had 3 delicious appetizers (the pate was esp outstanding); 5 different entrees and each of us thought ours was the best: Scallops, lamb shank, mussels, lamb stew and duck; and 3 desserts.... Great food, wonderful friendly service, and lovely ambiance. One of those charming old world restaurants where one feels at home. If we had a few more days in San Jose, we would certainly gone back. Bring cash, no credit cards accepted.

We went to this restaurant on our first night in Costa Rica and made a reservation for our last night half way through the dinner (because it was so good). The owner are very friendly and they passionate about their work, which is refreshing. The place can be hard to find (as there is no big sign in front of... More

For my business I have to go every year to Costa Rica ,this give me the opportunity to watch how the restaurants improve -or not. La Terrasse, with is chef Patricia, never desapoints and for years I hope !! The french fine pastry has been nicely extended, same for the range of french wine. My wife and I had hoped to try this number one rated restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it. Though hard to find for tourists, we enjoyed our dinner very much from the salad and entrees to the dessert and great French wine. The owner and his wife were nice hosts though if you don't speak Spanish it might be a challenge.... More

We made a reservation seven days prior to our arrival. Spoke with the chief Patricia and the male manager or owner and confirmed with a phone call. Our reservation was confirmed for a party of three. On the day of our reservation, when we arrived we were told that we had no reservation and as a result we could not... More

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner at La Terrasse. It was great to live this culinary experience in San Jose. We had good advise for the wine. Our two entradas (starters) decoration were really original and they were delicious. This is the first time I tried salty profiteroles! The main dishes were also great : duck with wine... More

Fantastic food and wine tucked away not far from the centre of San Jose, and although not the cheapest in town, not too expensive either - we paid around 100 dollars for a 2 course meal with excellent wine for 2 people, and around 150 dollars for a tasting Christmas menu for 2 including wine on Boxing Day. Patricia, the... More
