Food really good, overcharged for wine.

Family of four, we ate there one evening early July while staying at the nearby Apartotel La Sabana (which was a very nice little hotel). The food was interesting and very good, especially the lamb ribs specialty. Food prices were a little on the pricey side, but not too bad. The owner was quite... read more

My 3 girlfriends and I found this restaurant by our hotel, we walked in without reservations - no customers in restaurant but the owner welcomed us and we listened to him tell us the specialty .. he has a farm with baby lamb he raises for the restaurant (?) it has been marinating/cooking (can't recall) 5 hrs. - same as... Some of the best middle eastern food I've had, anywhere. Is it a little pricey for San Jose? Yes, but probably not so much for the neighborhood it's in - it's a half block from the most expensive restaurant in the city. A selection of appetizers to start, each one beautifully spiced and delicious, and, of course, had to try... More

Do not eat here under any circumstances! As many people have stated correctly, the owner will try and charm you and provide beautiful descriptions of the food you will be eating. The food is sub-par at best, and incredibly over priced! I had a lamb wrap for 8,000 Colones (approx. $16 Dollars!), with a very small side of tabule, and... More

Ordering from the menu is acceptable, but the specials offered by the owner are the "wallet-rippers" at the place. He promotes these specials that are not on the menu for the simple reason that they make him a very rich man, they are so obscenely priced. He makes them sound like he is offering them to you as a favor... More

We purchased some coupons from an offer site to eat at this place, it was eat $16, pay $8. We wanted to celebrate my step father's bday in a nice place, so we went here with all my family (10 people), and this is what happened: • First the owner, a fat and nice guy, offered us TWO entrees, some... The restaurant was next to our hotel, La Sabana. On recommendation of the waiter/owner, we had the lamb dish that is the house specialty. It was delicious. We also had some tasty appetizers, dessert and several beers. We could have eaten more cheaply, but it was a memorable meal with attentive service.

The restaurant was within walking distance from my hotel, I was famished, and I love Middle Eastern cuisine, so I happily set out for a good experience. Unfortunately, the baby veal main dish the owner/manager was urging me to order turned out to be so tough to chew, I would not have finished the meal were I not so hungry.... More

Our waiter was Tom who is also the owner... He was helpful and quite cordial. But at the prices they charge, it is definitely expected. The food was perfectly prepared. The lamb portion at about $35 was large and flavorful. The Lebanese sampler that we had was good, but small for the price. The wine at $50 per bottle needed... More

I have been at least a dozen times and almost every time I go I get the baked lamb. It is amazing! I also always get the hummus and falafel (which in my opinion, are also the best in CR). The portion on the lamb is big, so don't over order. The owner Tony is very nice and accommodating.
