Good food but need to work out kinks

Had two meals here, a lunch and dinner and enjoyed both. The restaurant has recently been purchased by a NY chef and the menu reflects quite different and welcome offerings from the usual Costa Rican fare. However, on our repeat visit two of us ordered a special that was on the sandwich board out... read more

There is some confusion as to which restaurant is the real Gran Escape. We were directed to one at the Marina, which was very Americanized, good food but very fake environs. Then we found this version in town, half the price, almost as good and much more local. Nothing super special though.

I ordered Viva la Pasta Vida: Spaghetti with tasty seafood. The dinner sensation was like taking a bite out of the Sea. Soft fleshy texture and delicately mild sweet flavor of seafood with pasta. If you are looking for fine food with good price this is the place.

We stopped in here to have a couple of drinks before doing some shopping in the area. It was nice, there were locals in there having a great time laughing and visiting. They have some nice flat screens over the bar that play music videos. After shopping we came back to eat (I had to order wings, I was missing... More

Came here on a rainy night, having read good reviews online. The location is nice - on a busy corner right across from the waterfront. The restaurant and bar are in a spacious, open-air setting, and the ambiance and decor are great. The night that we visited, things were a bit slow, and our server seemed indifferent. In hindsight it... More

My husband and I had been in Costa Rica for 4 days and had horrible experiences with the food until we stopped in this restaurant one night. The food was delicious and the service went beyond what we expected. The place was scheduled to close 30 minutes after we arrived but the staff treated us no different. My husband and... More

My husband and I went for dinner 3 times in our week long visit. We tried something different each time and everything was delicious. Not only was the food great but the staff were lovely and remembered us each time.

We had heard this was THE PLACE to go in Quepos, but unfortunately we did not have a good experience. We got there, ordered our drinks, and our drinks took about 15 minutes to come out (both bottled beverages). Then, we ordered our food, and after about 15 minutes, my salad came out, but they didn't bring my husband's sandwich... More

You would not give a dime for this road-side place ready to seduce new comming tourists by its location. At first I thaught it might not be a good idea to sit there, but as I was literally starving after a four-hour drive from Monteverde, I decided to give it a chance and I must confess the experience was superb....
