Great Friends and Food

Had dinner at this restaurant during stay near Manuel Antonio. The owner and staff are very friendly. The whole red snapper is the reason to go to this restaurant. It's cooked perfectly on an outside grill. This is the restaurant for typical Costa Rican food and if you want to feel like a local.

Had a great and affordable meal here that was so good we went back again two days later. I hadn't read the reviews before going, but I stumbled across the whole red snapper and it was delicious. We also had jumbo shrimp, and beef and all were very good. A little off the beaten path but happened to be 100... More

This place is just off the beaten track but well worth a visit. Our group favoured the red snapper and all agreed it was fantastic value for money. We all had a fish that covered the whole plate. Cooked on what looked like a home made barbecue it was nevertheless excellent. Perhaps lacked some ambience but the food made up... More

El Arrado dished up the best meal we've had in Costa Rica. The ambiance and warm and welcoming service made this an outstanding experience. We had the whole red snapper and fish and calamari in a tomato with spices sauce, and rice. Delicious! Would highly recommend. The authentic Costa Rican menu does not include appetizers or dessert - and you... More

Best food my group has eaten in Costa Rica in two trips. While the jumbo shrimp were good, the whole grilled snapper was out of this world. Perfectly cooked. Beautifully spiced and seasoned, and wrapped in foil and grilled on a natural wood fire "grill" that more resembled a DIY Big Green Egg. And just $20 too. There are some... More

We rented a house a little off the beaten off track and the owner mentioned the restaurant bar almost next door was good. We went one evening on a whim with little expectation thinking it was more of a bar than anything. I didn't intend to eat but decided to order the jumbo shrimp. This being low season there was... If you want authentic, true Costa Rican cuisine, El Arade (meaning the plow) is the restaurant for you. All of the owner/ head chief, Doña Ana's recipes are passed down hundreds of years from Her family that live locally in the quepos/aquirres area. All of her fish and meats are fresh and caught fish almost daily. And all of her... More

Our first night in Quepos, we didn't feel like going far. We saw this little place on the way to where we were staying. Don't let the emptiness of the place put you off as it almost did us. The Saltina was fantastic. We went back for breakfast the next morning and then had them prepare some red snapper that... More

Off the beaten track but close to Arenas del mar. The owner of the restaurant was friendly and helpful as well as an outstanding chef. Looking forward to making a trip here again.

Asked the hotel concierge at Gaia where to go for some great authentic Costa Rican Cuisine and his immediate response was El Arado. Got the ribs with potatoes with sour cream and i was definitely not disappointed. Not the best ribs ever but pretty damn good. The owner was very friendly and the service was amazing. She even brought out... More
