Great find!

4.5. Delicious food! (more international than costa rican). Blackened yellow fin tuna was superb. Very pleasant setting overlooking a garden/pool. Super friendly chef and staff. Only 5 tables - get one if you are lucky!

We went to this restaurant on a recommendation from a local whose house we were renting in the area. It was easily the best food that we had during our stay. The restaurant, "El Ranchito" is just inside Villas Nicolas. It has a small seating area with a bar & the kitchen is right there as well. Everything is very... More

Got to tell you the bartender at La Mariposa is now 2 for 2. This place was great. What they are able to accomplish in a small outdoor setting was just amazing. Four of us went there last night and each had a great meal. The appetizers and desserts could use a little work but the quality and taste of... More

It is easy to walk by Villa Nicolas' Cafe -- but don't think it is just another hotel restaurant! It is a cozy, fewer than a dozen tables with a nice little bar. The staff is friendly, attentive, and cordial. Nicely situated near the beautifully landscaped pool and gardens, it provides a romantic atmosphere for dinner. The food and drink... More

This is a little pace in the hotel. Maybe 5 tables and definitely family operated. Brie quesadilla was delicious! What was amazing was the tuna Sashimi! After the first night we ordered a second. My husband had a seafood stew and it was amazing. I kept dipping my meal into the juices. I had the surf and turf (steak and... More

We enjoyed two meals here since we were also staying in the complex and it was convenient. The first time was excellent with delicious food and attentive service but the second was delicious but service was a disaster. We ordered and waited and waited...while three other tables came and went. Not sure what happened and it was a lovely evening... More

Our guide Manuel, recommended Villa Nicholas and it was an excellent choice. It is a quiet, out of the way place with only 5 tables and no view - but excellent service and outstanding food. We had a Brie quesadilla with mango and blue cheese salsa as an appetizer followed by a mango, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto salad and chili... More

I had the surf and surf (tuna and shrimp). Well presented and delicious food, however, it's quite pricey for the small portion size. This place only has few tables, which makes it a great low key place to have a peaceful and intimate dinner. The service is excellent.

We were staying at the Parador down the road but had got tired by the sense that we were in California rather than Costa Rica, when we stumbled across this place. It's not obvious and, as it's name would suggest, is a restaurant attached to some villas, but it is separate from them and well worth the stop. The food... More
