My family and I stopped here just for a quick bite before a long drive back home after a very long day in Manuel Antonio National Park. We ended up staying for a full meal! The history of the plane at the center of the restaurant is fabulous! There Is a bar inside the plane and the restaurant surrounds it.... More

A must just because it was so unique. The food was just okay. We had the Arros con Marciscos and nachos. I cannot recall the name of the cocktails we had but they were delicioso. Service was slow but we did not mind as that is the pace we expected in places like this. The history of the airplane, if... More

We went for lunch here, the history of the plane itself makes up for the "higher price" food. It was great food and service! And you overlook the rain forest and ocean!

I love what the owner has done with the airplane theme, very clever and great eye for detail. The view for sunset also makes this a must do when here, but the drinks are beyond mediocre and the food a bore. Service very slow. Make a stop for sunset and then go to a better restaurant for dinner. Sorry I... More

We went to El Avion thinking it would be kind of overrated, overpriced, and too touristy. We were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful restaurant with a great view, and the food was very good too! Not cheap, but we really enjoyed our meal here (the nachos are AMAZING!).

El Avion is a restaurant that is made out of a cargo plane! It sounds exactly as awesome as it is. There is a long bar inside of it where you can relax, look at some incredible historical photos and enjoy a tropical cocktail. Once the sun begins to set, you are treated to some simply amazing ocean views. They... More

Pros: fascinating historical relic; great views of the ocean; clean, comfortable restaurant; pretty good food. Cons: Expensive food and drinks; service was OK. The most interesting thing about this place is the old plane itself and the history behind how it got there. As one who remembers the Oliver North Iran-Contra hearings, it is fascinating to wander around in the... More

After visiting Manuel Antonio National Park, go to El Avion. The food is very good. I had the yellowfin tuna and it was excellent. I tried the shrimp bisque soup and it was ok, nothing special. We also had their vegetarian nachos, which were good. But don't go there just for the food. The setting is really nice. Get a... More

Who doesn't want to eat at an airplane? The interesting history of how the plane got up on the mountain is what initially drew our attention to the restaurant. If you can, go at sunset and get a table by the rail. Upstairs is even better. You will see amazing sunsets while having great food and drink. We ate at... More

The food was good, but if you want a more authentic experience go somewhere else. The waitstaff was a little inattentive. I felt like I was at an Applebees in Costa Rica.
