Pros: fascinating historical relic; great views of the ocean; clean, comfortable restaurant; pretty good food. Cons: Expensive food and drinks; service was OK. The most interesting thing about this place is the old plane itself and the history behind how it got there. As one who remembers the Oliver North Iran-Contra hearings, it is fascinating to wander around in the... More

After visiting Manuel Antonio National Park, go to El Avion. The food is very good. I had the yellowfin tuna and it was excellent. I tried the shrimp bisque soup and it was ok, nothing special. We also had their vegetarian nachos, which were good. But don't go there just for the food. The setting is really nice. Get a... More

Who doesn't want to eat at an airplane? The interesting history of how the plane got up on the mountain is what initially drew our attention to the restaurant. If you can, go at sunset and get a table by the rail. Upstairs is even better. You will see amazing sunsets while having great food and drink. We ate at... More

The food was good, but if you want a more authentic experience go somewhere else. The waitstaff was a little inattentive. I felt like I was at an Applebees in Costa Rica.

We read mixed reviews about this restaurant, but decided to check it out because many of the bad reviews came from people ordering steak... (why would ANYONE go to a beach town and order beef?!?!) ... we had the whole sea bass and it was DELICIOUS!!!! so cool to see the plane and wander through it.... when you are in... More

This was a great place to see a sunset and have a drink. Plus a wonderful stop, as their is a place in the center of the restaurant to add to the ambiance. But the food is less than average. If you want a burger, maybe, but there are way better places to get food in this area. Calamari tasted... More

You can not find a better view for enjoying your meal. How fun to see the plane and have a drink in it! The food is good, but not outstanding. If You are there to have a good drink and food looking out at the water, you will enjoy. Our group had Mahi mahi and burgers. The deserts were very... More

We have dined several times at this restaurant but this is my first review? Besides the great atmosphere the menu is extensive. We had the tuna special and was not disappointed. It was cooked to perfection. The dessert cart is very inviting and hard to resist. We were there for dinner so couldn't enjoy the view. Recommend daylight dining. History... More

I don't know if one can beat the unbelievable views found at this place! We were lucky enough to experience the Costa Rican sunset here making for one hell of an experience. The drinks here are quite tasty, both alcoholic and virgin. The food was good. We had ordered two salads and two appetizers and all was solid. Not spectacular... More
