This restaurant has a real cute theme where they've taken the body of a 1954 Fairchild Cargo Plane which was originally purchased by the US government in the ’80s for the Nicaraguan Contras, but it never made it out of its hangar in San José because of the ensuing Iran-Contra scandal. In 2000 the owners of El Avión purchased it... More

Went to this restaurant for the kids. The airplane in the middle of the open-air restaurant is good for the kids. The views are amazing down to the ocean and an off-shore island. There are many tables with this view. The staff was very friendly and were great with the kids. There are several homemade drinks - both alcoholic &... More

After a portion of the day at the beach or the Nat'l Park, El Avion was the perfect stop for lunch, happy hour or sundown. We visited twice before walking the short distance back to our resort nearby. The unique airplane entrance will certainly lure some inside. We sat at the edge of both the upstairs and downstairs decks. Gorgeous... More

Great view of the coast, good food and great atmosphere. There's half a plane inside the restaurant, that's cool, you can eat inside it. Located on the main street surrounded by bars and restaurants. Compared to local standard restaurants/bar, is a bit expensive. But it's a No Miss.

You might think this place is going to be "kitschy" with the very cool plane sticking out, but it is surprisingly good! The food was good and reasonably priced. And the view was amazing. It was our first stop in Manuel Antonio, while we were waiting to check in at Tulemar. We got a table at the edge of the... More

I love this amazing idea... eating inside of an old airplane? Wow... My son was crazy about this...We brought great pictures back home. The food was ok, but the experience so worth it.

Went in the evening and had the catch of the day which turned out to be red snapper with a passion fruit sauce. It was very delicious and the mixed drinks were awesome. The service was a little slow but the food more then made up for it. A great dinner and the view was amazing.

Great place to go because of the plane, and the view, but food was only average. The story behind the plane was neat, Might want to go in afternoon for lunch or drinks to enjoy the views

We had a mid-afternoon snack here and were not overly impressed with the food. The view is beautiful but we chose not to go back for a full meal.

Location and view are amazing, a view from the terrace to the ocean. The food how ever was average. Nice but nothing to write home about
