Walking about near our hotel, our group of four friends accidentally happened upon Barba Roja (Red Beard)). We loved the setting (overlooking the valley, beach and bay), but WOW, were we surprised by the food. It was superb and we recommended it right away to our tour guide, for her future patrons.

Wanting something different from the usual dining fare here in Manuel Antonio we were delighted to find the Baba Rojas menu online featuring several pages of sushi & asian inspired entrees. After stopping by the Pirate's Booty gift shop next door (nice selection of gifts & unique hand crafted jewelry) we made our way to the restaurant, ordered a couple... More

We came for sunset, which was totally amazing, and after ordering cheeseburgers found them to be totally amazing as well. These were not processed patties but tasted like fresh ground steak that one would find in burgers in the US. Truly on of the best burgers we have ever had, and service was great as well.

This place is perfect for anyone, any age, anytime. The owner is on hand and usually cooking himself, the other chefs and wait staff are unbelievable! They have some great choices for meals and some nightly specials which differ from night to night. They also have live music from time to time which has always been a plus to the... More

Stopped by Barba Roja Tuesday night for a quick sunset dinner... Chico was our server and he explained about the location of the restaurant being at the top of the Manual Antonio Paradise. So correct was he....Enjoying a glass of wine and a 2 for one Burger to die for. Chico, a local Tico, spent time at our table making... More

Learning Barba Roja was one of the oldest restaurants in the area was what brought us there. Issa our server was great; answered our questions, had great suggestions and was attentive to my allergies. We ordered the specials and were very pleased (beef ribs and tuna). The portions were generous, Issa brought out half my meal and packed half to... More

Our paddle board guide recommend Barba Roja. Came on a Friday night maybe an hour before sunset. Had a few rounds of drinks (delicious mojitos by the way), watched the sunset, and then devoured the nachos (yummy!) and ribs. Great service.
