Filling and delicious

We enjoyed the fish and chicken casados...the set meal...accompanied by veggies, coleslaw, fried plantains and you guessed it, rice & beans. Today and filling. Washed down by mango shakes. Inexpensive for CR...but still $26 US for two...pricy by Canadian standards.

The food here was some of the best local food we´ve had in our whole South and Central America trip. The chicken casado (typical plate with rice, veggies etc) and the improvised veggie plate were delicious and filling. The mango´s shakes were also fantastic. We came back to eat here again with friends but sadly it was closed.

A small restaurant on the main street - turn right at the boat drop off. Gorgeous Cassado - amazing coconut sauce, I don't know how the lady managed it! Cost 4500 colones ($10) so not your cheapest but worth every cent. Her husband also runs fantastic canoe tours for $15 - his eyes were amazing and spotted animals all the... More

If you want a great meal that feels like your mom cooked it for you this is the place to go. While your there, ask about the tours with Castor Thomas.

Although Doña Maria herself is a woman of rather few words her fish, chicken, salad and the fruit juices were really tasty. The portions were enough to fill even a man's stomach and the prices are probably the best in town. If you are just hungry, looking for a good meal and not expecting a cozy atmosphere with attentive service it's... More

We ate a nice lunch after touring the canals. We had typical plates, fish or chicken, with rice, vegtables, plantains, beans... Food was cooked fresh and was delicious. Friendly service. Nice touch of Tortuguero.

Comfortable little place on the riverside near the National Park. Food was fresh and well cooked! Casadas were colorful and tasty! Friendly service and clear menus.

The food was cooked to order. My family had to sit while she prepare the food. At least, we know that it was not just sitting in the back of the restaurant. We love the rice and bean, steak, plantains, and salad. Good cooking!

Not very clean. Pizza was ok, nachos were cold. Beer was good and cold though. Nice atmosphere even if the waiter mixed up all our orders.
