Three nights in Tortugero chose to eat here twice

The food we had was excellent. The restaurant does feel like a huge shed and is extremely minimalist which is fine but a little more in the way of decor would make it less stark and the feel would be more welcoming. I did feel a little intimidated by the huge space when there was only one other couple inside.... More

We had one of the most delicious and memorable meals of our holiday here. Don't be put off by the shed-like appearance. The food is a highly unusual Costa Rican inspired fusion of French, Thai, and just about everything else that is unusual and interesting from a rich palette of international cuisine. My partner had a wonderful roulade of chicken,... More

We ate there three nights running. We were sold the first night because of the quality of the food and the relaxed yet professional service. We enjoyed every meal and between the two of us tried most of the entrees. We enjoyed every mouthful.

We had lunch here. It was okay, but too expensive. The guy/owner is a nice very talkative person who does his utmost to make you feel comfortable, but the food is far too pricey for what you get.

Lovely meals even though there was massive storm outside the night we were there. The path past the restaurant is worth following further (with headtorch) at night because you will see all kinds of animals.

They had great service and delicious food. It's not their fault, but some fire ants got onto our backpack when it was on the ground in outdoor seating, and they were not fun. Ouch.

Wild Ginger was easily the best restaurant we found on our trip to Costa Rica. Most other restaurants we went to, both fancier and cheaper ones, tended to lack finesse. In comparison, Wild Ginger had very nice and balanced food, and probably one of the best chocolate fondants I have ever eaten. A bit pricier than the other restaurants in... More

Little place tucked away from the main street in Tortuguero. Lovely service, great food, and mid-range cost, with the added benefit of the gentlest dog in the world coming for tummy rubs during the meal and then sleeping under our table. To get here take a boat taxi from the hotel which costs just a couple of dollars each way... More

Wild ginger is a hidden gem. I have traveled almost all over costa rica and this is by far the best place i've eaten. The food is extremely well cooked and is created with great associations to the countrys flavours. The owners are creative and very friendly. They make ypu feel welcome. If you're visiting tortuguero you definitely owe yourself... More
