Good value, good food

This restaurant definitely had an authentic Caribbean feel to it - the food was quite good. We were there during shoulder season, so were the only people in the restaurant but then again we were some of the few tourists in town. It was the place our hotel sent us when we asked what the best place... read more

My friend and I ate here and were the only ones in the restaurant so we sat outside next to the football field which was very peaceful. We both ordered the carribean chicken which was moist and tasty. It came with a fresh salad, two types of rice (one with beans) and fried plantains (which were especially delicious!). This was... We ate here twice. We especially liked the chicken cooked in a real caribbean style. The habanero salsa on the table, freshly prepared, was outstanding.

Ate here the first night we were in Tortuguero and absolutely loved everything that was served. My husband got the chicken with caribbean sauce and I got the fish filet. The rice was awesome, it had pumpkin in it! And the neighborhood dogs that kept us company as we ate on the patio added a distinct Tortuguero feel that we... More

The little restaurant is in front of the football field, mybe 2 minutes ro walk frim the center. I had the chicken caribbean style with rice and beans and it was really really good! I would come back to Tortuguero just for this..

Travelled around Costa Rica for 2 weeks and this has to be the best place I ate at. The menu's simple but there's plenty of flavour and taste in Miss Miriam's cooking. The afternoon football game is always worth eating along to, best seats on the island.

Very tasty Caribbean food, with friendly cooks, its a very "rustic" place but don't be put off we had a feast which the whole family enjoyed - I challenge you to eat more than a dribble of their hot sauce though - wow!

Our first meal in town and it was "hands down" the best of our visit! We cannot say enough good things about the food; yummy, fresh, plentiful. I can't wait to eat here again!

Great little restaurant. As others have said, slow service, but only because everything is freshly cooked, and what's the rush anyway when you can enjoy a cold beer while you wait. And it's definitely worth the wait - tastiest Caribbean chicken ever!

Don't judge the look of restaurants by European standards. Miss Miriam's like most little places in Tortuguero is rough around the edges but that is the charm. Service is slow but where are you rushing to? Sit back and enjoy a couple of beers while you wait...they may even have to send out to the supermarket for more! It's all... More
