Description: Tasty Waves is more than a humble cantina in beautiful Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica, it's a lifestyle. We always strive to become your "home base", giving you local advice on where to go, what sites to see and how to get the most out of your journey or vacation. Our staff is more of a family and we always want you to feel welcome in our home. For the most part it's a relaxed atmosphere but don't get me wrong, we know how to party. Tasty Tuesday has become the biggest and most anticipated party of the week and we always show you a good time, so good that we close on Wednesday to clean up the aftermath. Thursday is Trivia Night, Friday is R.E.H.A.B., Saturday is Karaoke, Sunday Funday and Monday is our Movie Night with new and classics running on our 100" projector screen. Stop in, say hi and have a shot of Guaro with us. Tasty Waves Cantina ~ Livin' the Dream

The tacos at this place are like crack. If you find yourself in Puerto Viejo and you want a nice laid back lunch, stop in. If you feel like getting wild, stay a little longer and enjoy Tasty Tuedays with everyone in town. This place is everything you would ever want from a taco joint. Beachside, good people, good bartenders,... More

We got talked into joining a few locals here after the Lazy Mon closed on us but we weren't ready to quit. We had a great time shaking our groove thang with what appeared to be EVERYONE in town under 45 haha. Seriously, yhis place was crammed to the brim! Drinks were decently priced and service was ok given how... More

Tacos were great and drinks were cheap. I came once and ended up going back three times and getting the combo of one fish taco and one veggie. Everything was really fresh tasting and the tortillas seemed to be homemade. Guys are nice surfers who will chat you up if that's what you want or leave you alone with your... More

During our time in Puerto Viejo, we were lucky enough to stay just a few minutes away from Tasty Waves, our favorite place on the trip. We visited at least once a day, and loved it each time. The food was delicious, the dollar shots were awesome, and the service was amazing! Liz, our daytime bartender, made us feel right... More

We stopped after a fun day on the beach for a quick bite to eat. The food was excellent, the music was awesome, the atmosphere was perfect. To top it off the prices were very affordable. We will be back on our next trip.

We needed quick lunch during CR World Cup game and this place delivered! Tacos really ARE the best ever but they have good burritos, too. Really is a cantina but good beach ambience. The ex pat owner is on top of things. Really wished I had eaten there earlier in our trip versus as we left town. Affordable and extremely... More

We stopped here after spending the afternoon at Coccles Beach for a couple of beers and Fish Tacos. I was reading the reviews on the menu and thinking yeah, the tacos are probably good, but not that good. Boy was I wrong. Try the fish tacos here with an Imperial, you won't be disappointed!

This place was a fantastic find! I had the Wedge Burrito, and my wife had the veggie tacos. We had a nice chat with the server/owner after the meal... a real laid back guy that cares about the quality of his food. I'd go back again...and again...and again...

The place doesn't look like it would have great food but it does. This is a great bar right across the road from the beach. Always a great place to party (Tuesday is their biggest night) but the food is excellent. Try the fish tacos and the chicken tenders. They get their chicken from an organize farmer and they could... The food, drinks, prices, service, and location are all excellent but it's the crew that works here that really sets this place apart, they are some of the nicest folks you'll ever meet, not just in Costa Rica but anywhere. They also attract fun and friendly patrons, it won't take more than a few minutes to make some new friends... More
