I had breakfast at this cafe with outdoor covered seating. The service was fine but the food was nothing special. I had pancakes with honey, which were dry and a little tough. Their was a varied menu but I doubt I would return.

I loved this place. The staff were so friendly. The brownies are what this place is known for. Also any of the coffee drinks are great iced! Definitely loved supporting this beautiful business.

The sandwiches here are hands-down, the best I have ever had at any restaurant, ever. Healthy, natural ingredients, and such amazing flavor! Bread and Chocolate, will you open other restaurants, beginning in Denver, please?

I wish we had discovered this place on our first day rather than our last, all the food is home made - the chocolate cake is incredible!

I heard a lot of people raving about this place, but felt my breakfast was pretty average. Unfortunately they were super busy but they're only small so it felt really overcrowded. I ordered the small granola after having had massive granola bowls from their competitor around the corner (Cafe Rico) but it was so tiny, about the size of a... More

As per usual Bread and Chocolate doesn't disappoint. The service is fantastic and the food is delicious, fresh and well presented. Thanks Tom and crew for another yummy breakfast.

All natural breakfast and lunch, with dizzying chocolate delights from local beaneries. Lucious gazpacho, jerk chicken bbq sandwich on house-baked whole grain bread. Came back for breakfast and loved the fruit shakes and chocolate cake (for breakfast? Yeah, it's my birthday, whatsamatta you?) Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Bread and chocolate is a little gem if your missing American cafe style food. :) The brownies are fabulous, just under two bucks for a dense delicious brownies, mint, walnut, cacao nibs, and a new one with walnuts and oatmeal. The cookies are good too. Try the ginger for sure. Muffins are great. Lemon poppyseed and carrot are my favourites.

We ate here several times during our week in Puerto Viejo. Everything we had was terrific, service can sometimes be slow... but hey you are on vacation! The baked goods are delicious but a bit pricey.
