Great service and location

Outstanding service! It was my mother in-law's birthday and the staff did a fantastic job of making her feel like a queen. Location is perfect and the food was fresh and tasty.

La Palapa does a "fireshow" every evening around 8pm, this does a decent job of drawing patrons and is what enticed us to dine here one evening. The ocean view is spectacular but the food and drinks were just okay. The "fireshow" was a little silly, just one guy swinging a couple of tiki torches, but I bet kids would... More

Dropped off here by the Marriott shuttle, we went in for drinks. Seated quickly at a table under the palms on the sand. Underwent a nearly continual parade of beach vendors hawking everything from cigars to bead necklaces to carved gourds. Got annoying after a while, but we managed to relax and check out the Tamarindo beach scene.

We had dinner one night and were very disappointed. My kids had the fish and chips, which they liked. I had sushi that was all rice and a tiny piece of tuna. My husband has a blacked fish that was just ok. We had only two beers and no dessert and the bill was $95! Totally not worth it.

So we were enticed into the restaurant on our first night in Tamarindo with 2 for 1 cervezas and since we had just arrived in town a couple beers sounded good. We sat on the beach and decided to have some food as well. Our server Brian was great as were the other members of the staff. I had the... More

A tour guide recommended La Palapa for dinner, so we thought we'd try it ou! It did not disappoint! Eating on the beach was a treat. The view was stunning and we had excellent service! My husband and daughter had the grilled tuna and it was perfection! My other daughter and I had the grilled tenderloin with mashed potatoes and... More

I stopped in La Palapa on a weekday evening, drawn in by their happy hour advertisement. I went mainly to be able to sip something delicious while having a beautiful front-row seat to the sunset on the beach, and La Palapa delivered on all counts. After a few cocktails, I munched on chips and guac, which were great.

Lovely setting but food is only so so and service mirrors that. Eating on the beach is good but you are constantly interrupted by beach vendors selling sunglasses, pots, whistles, bowls... Prices are on the high side. They were out of guacamole at lunch if you can believe that. Basic disappointment to me.

Title says it all Catering to high end gringos, who are used to bad service Takes forever to get what you order and even longer to get the bill. Then they try to short you for your change

Great service and excellent seafood just steps from the waters edge. It is like having a picnic with a world class chef preparing the food. The ever present staff have been working there for years and you can tell they love their work. In Tamarindo, La Palapa is the best place on the beach to eat and enjoy a beer.... More
