We tried many restaurants in Tamarindo and we were very disappointed in all of them. On our last day in Tamarindo we found El Coconut and were completely blown away. The owner is a pure delight to talk with. I had a lobster dish that is one of the best meals in my life. We are from Dallas Texas with... More

We came here for dinner on a night that the restaurant was not crowded. We were very surprised, after eating in town all week of the prices, small portions and not so hot service.

We visit Costa Rica often and have eaten at many restaurants, but El Coconut is always our favorite. Catherina, the owner, is always available to take special care of anything you need and she always has the freshest local seafood that is prepared superbly. No need to dress up, in fact we came from the beach, put on some dry... More

Thank you so much for taking the time of your busy schedule to give us this positive feed back on El Coconut! And you are so right: Dressing up is NOT necessary despite the table cloth on the tables and the cloth napkins :O) I do hope to see you back again in between you adventures soon again! More

After spending nearly a week in Tamarindo, we had not had much luck finding good food. Fortunately we came across El Coconut the last night of our stay and were so impressed that we were disappointed we hadn't found it sooner! Fresh fish daily, great lunch and dinner. Most of all, the owner, Catarina, is extremely welcoming and brought many... More

Restaurant owner serves clients, staff is friendly, 100% european look, food is tasty, coctails list is long, really the best place in Tamarindo.

Not only was the quality of the food poor and way overpriced, the service was terrible. I had shrimp with pasta which consisted of dumping tomato sauce on top of tiny shrimp and mushy pasta. My wife had Jumbo Shrimp the size of a peanut with overlooked vegetables and flavorless rice. A lousy cocktail and an iced tea all for... More

My family and I very much enjoyed our late lunch at El Coconut. We had the $25 special, a main course plus an appetizer or dessert. We also enjoyed the drink special. The service was good. I enjoyed the decor. I suspect the decor is part of the reason for the higher ratings. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals.... More

I went to El Coconut on Friday night with two friends. We'd heard about the restaurant from an acquaintance who lived in Tamarindo, and thought it'd be a great place for dinner. We were a bit concerned when we walked in and saw no one else, save for the impressively enthusiastic sax player. But we'd heard good things and were... More

We came here for the reviews and were disappointed. The food was nothing special, it was average. Prices are pretentious and items are definitely overpriced. The atmosphere and decoration of the place is nice but in the end you are eating facing an ugly street when you could be eating far better seafood at one of the many good beachfront... More
