I was stunned at reading some of the previous reviews. We ate here last week and had a wonderful meal. The Kobe beef was cooked to perfection, delicious, and as tender as can be. The chef came out to greet us and even provided complimentary soup. Our waiter was friendly and. while very professional, had a good sense of humor.... More

We visited each restaurant at the JW, Santa Cruz or Guanacaste as we knew it. Sabanero was rated the best but did not earn that rating based on our dining experience. Three of the five steaks ordered were sent back immediately because they were not cooked properly. My wife's ribeye was poor quality as it was way too fatty and... More

Excellent food and service, a bit on the pricey side with a filet mignon at over $40 and wines in the $60 and above range - I understand that Costa Rica taxes imports and applies a consumption tax instead of having income tax - might explain it.

A steakhouse that cannot cook/grill a steak!!!!! Side dishes all Mediocre (especially the special Foes Gras) Service… Hummmmm …the server does not know what the different types of meat are and what on the menu! You order Medium-Rare Steak, you will get Medium-“Raw” piece of meat.!!! Wine list is very limited and expensive; e.g. a bottle of Opus One at... More

Nice decor. Service uneven. One very helpful waiter who gave us the best touring advice of anyone in the hotel (including the incredibly unhelpful concierge). Others who disappeared for long periods leaving drinks unfilled etc. Food was only so-so. There are very few Costa Rican beef selections on the menu. I really don't need to eat here for NY strip... It's a great place for a real dinner with a couple or a table for 6.the service is good with friendly staff. The steaks exelent & its well designed as far as the concept & feel. It's not a low key evening as far as the dinner budget,it's an special evening out in Guanacaste but well worth it.

we had an excellent meal here. it is an argentine style steakhouse. the steak was cooked perfectly, and was excellent. they gave us gourmet salts (black volcano salt, pink himalyan salt, etc) and sauces for the steak, which were excellent and we had fun trying all of them! the service was excellent. the wine was great. for $100, we had... My Husband had a pork dish that was really good, and I had spinach and mushrooms, and a bean dish. We had 2 glasses of wine, the Restaurant got busy and our Server disappeared. She came back and said that she was sorry for the awful service. And, we were not the only ones that just sat there waiting to... More
