Hard to find from main road. It's at the front of the beach with sand floor. Great food and good for lunch and dinner.

we were delighted by the beachfront dining options at Playa Samara, and we thought this was the best of the five dining options we tried (Gusto's, Locanda, Tabanuco and Lo Q Hay). A local boat operator recommended, and the food was great, and the pricing was on the low end. The front of the restaurant looks low end, but the... More

This is a nice spot with a bit of a higher class menu (not just typical Tico food). Service was also very good.

Recommended to us locally, we had a lovely dinner in their beachfront area. It was quite busy, but the fish and shrimp both tasted really fresh - the best seafood we had in Costa Rica.

My parents and I went to El Ancla for lunch and to beat the hot afternoon sun. The seating is outside under the palms so has good sun protection. View of the beach is lovely (the restaurant is on the beach) and the atmosphere seemed hip. The ceviche with plantains was delicious! We tried 3 of their fish entrees -... More

We came for dinner with our two young children; we were quick to order. Luckily, our younger one fell asleep in the stroller which meant an easier dinner to manage. Unfortunately, our order was forgotten and it took us asking our waiter 4 times where our food was for him to finally acknowledge the kitchen had lost the order. Our... More

Good food and service, right on the beach. Where else can you go for a nice dinner meal at around $50 per couple. A must to try!!

Our tour group decided to have dinner @ El Ancla on the beach one evening. We had 2 tables with about 14 people. Drinks were 2 for 1 - woohoo! Mixed drinks all around! The cerviche was really good! We ordered two for our table. Our table ordered the 2 mixed seafood platter for two (shrimp with the head on,... More

Very good food with an open air restaurant and tables out on the beach. If you are a seafood lover, their seafood soup is not to be missed.

Our server was very rude to my husband when he asked questions on the menu and seemed to ignore some of the requests we had that he did not want to do apparently. The food was good, but not a great value in my opinion. I had the seafood stew which was above average but my husband had the fish... More
