This restaurant was on our list of desired places to eat during our week in Samara, so we were disappointed to find it closed.

We have been putting a lot of faith in Fodor's 2014, and when it is recommended in this book, we have never been disappointed!! According to the book, it is "the best pizza in town". We couldn't agree more! It is a thin crust pizza (we ordered the diablo), and was delicious. The petite waitress asked if we'd like to... More

Found this place on our second to last night in Samara, which is too bad, because it was our favourite place in Samara! Unassuming from the road, when you come and sit down it is cozy and clean. Service is good, relaxed, the hostess and cook are absolutely lovely. The brushetta was fabulous and we ordered 3 pizzas for 2... More

I thought the food was very good. Tasty pasta and pizza. But our visit was marred by some exceptionally poor service. First of all we waited for a very long time for any food to appear at all. But that was exacerbated by the fact that some of our entrees arrived much later than others. We actually got a little... More

We decided to check out Al Manglar on our last evening in Samara. The service seemed a little slow, but good bruschetta app to start. Two of us ordered pasta and two pizza. FORTY MINUTES after our pasta arrived, the pizza finally did -- except one of them went to the wrong table, and the guy promptly started eating it,... More

Simply put: great food, great hostess. Incredibly nice cook, waitress, the works. Even got a show from a bunch of kittens living there! Would definately recommend this to anyone who loves an authentic Italian meal!!

Al Manglar is off the beaten track in Samara, but worth the trip if you like Italian food with a Tico twist. We were a party of four and must have come in after a few big parties because we were definitely served on Tico-time! Staff was limited to waitress (assuming owner because she spoke Italian) and cook and the... More

After traveling for a month in Central America, I had a hankering for some pizza while in Playa Samara. Eating beans and rice left something to be desired and I came to trusty tripadvisor to tell me where I could get some in this quaint little beach town at 9pm on a Tuesday. Even though I walked by several places... More

Seriously, this was one of the best pizza we've ever eaten! We ate here twice during our stay in Samara. Both times the service and food was excellent. Try the Diablo - spicy salami - and be sure to ask for the house specialty "hot olive oil" to add to it - awesome!

We heard about this restaurant word-of-mouth as the best Italian food in Samara, and it was. Outstanding pastas cooked perfectly and the sauces were just as ordered. The atmosphere has a great family feel as well. It is easy to find, but is not on the beaten path (about a block from the main drag in town), so you most... More
