the food is good but too much expensive considering that the location is not anymore on the beach. We paid 7.56 dollars for a bottle of spring water!!! This unacceptable! We took the meat and was good but as side it was ridiculous half tomato, one slice of zucchini ... I do not recommend this restaurant since you cannot pay... More

This place is amazing! They make the hot coals on site and grill the fish on big oil drums sliced in half. You eat on funky tables under trees looking out over the beach.

Everyone in our group of 16 loved their dishes - the garlic was an especially big hit. The potatoes are incredible. Skip the Cactus "surprise" drink. The margarita was quite small and had no ice.

We visited Playa Samara on July 21 and 22, 2014 and were extremely disappointed to find that El Lagarto was closed (we think that was because it is the wet season when tourism is down). We have eaten at El Lagarto on three prior visits to Samara and love the steak and seafood cooked on the wood fired grill. Lagarto... More

This is an excellent restaurant right on the beach. We had surf and turf, and it was sooo good! Our waitress was a cute little girl from Australia. She was very friendly and welcoming. There is a fascinating wood fired oven where the coals come down a chute. We would recommend this as a restaurant not to be missed.

Food was delicious and entertaining to watch food being cooked on this massive grill. We sat near the beach and got annihilated by mosquito - my husband and I each had at least 15 bites just on our legs after eating at this place. We moved seats and luckily we had beach towels that we wrapped around our legs for... More

This was, by far, the best restaurant in Samara. Everything grilled to perfection! The ambiance was wonderful...right on the beach. In addition to fabulous food we were treated to a thunderstorm and light show courtesy of Mother Nature. A great night!

Massive Ambiance, Crazy unique Grill that dumps only red hot coals down to cook with (very efficient and visually appeqalling) VERY good meat cuts and sea food preps. Had the fillet mignon and lobster, should have subbed a ribeye ( my wife had this, VERY good) for the mignon (tender but mush less flavor). The lobster was messy and PERFECT,... More

This place has tons of character and is one of the higher end restaurants in Playa Samara though it still has sand floors. It's "roof" is basically a huge tree. The wood fired grill is amazing and the food is very good. Staff speaks English well, which helped and the menu is bi-lingual too.
