Tremendous Tuna

The food here was excellent and friendly staff. Had a great tuna steak and bottle of wine. Prices were on the more expensive side but worth it for a quality meal and you get 10% off if you are staying at one of the nearby hotels.

We ate at many of the restaurants in Playa Grande and a few in Tamarindo and the restaurant at Hotel Cantarana was the standout meal of the trip. Tuna Luna, an Asian-inspired seared tuna entree was the highlight. Fresh, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. We shared a passion fruit custard with bruleed sugar for dessert that was very inventive and a... More

This place had such good reviews on TripAdvisor, we were excited to try it. I have to say, it's a lovely little place - it's on the second floor, open-air, very cute. I thought the food was just ok, but our server was awesome and it was just a short walk from the house we rented, so it couldn't have... More

Cantarana is a hidden gem in Playa Grande. Located on the open second floor of a building nestled in the palms and other tropical landscape, it really is like you're dining right in the jungle. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, both equally delicious. You can watch the howler monkeys climbing around in the morning, and watch the... More

They always have a vegetarian option, if busy sometimes service may be slow. Be patient and enjoy the view

We've dined at Cantarana several times during our stay in Playa Grande. This is by far and away our favorite place... Okay, there aren't a lot of choices if you don't have a car, but we would give Cantarana a top rating in any case... and we eat out at a lot of top places back home in Albuquerque. While... More

The lighting, table setting and environment in the treetops of the tropical forest make this a unique dining experience. Add to that some fantastic menu choices prepared fresh makes it a must stop for any foodie in the Tamarindo area. We had the pastas and chicken dishes and salads during our stay there for dinner. All were excellent. Their full... More

We ate an evening dinner here and the food here was very good to excellent. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. Had never eaten stingray before (that I know of) and it was prepared great as an appetizer. The main course that I had was rabbit. Very tasty!

My husband and I came here for a glass of wine after dinner. The wine was fantastic , and the service was amazing. We really enjoyed the romantic atmosphere as well as the delicious complementary bread!
