Description: Restaurant Estero Azul is located near Flamingo on your way to Potrero. Before you turn right at the beach at Restaurant Plemar keep on going straight all way to the back of the road (about 100m). You'll find a fisherman's house with a small eating place next to the beach. Here they'll serve you the catch of the day without paying Flamingo prices. This google search (El Estero Azul Playa Flamingo) has little information but at least lets you know it's legit. GREAT PLACE!

This place is amazing! If you are looking for a typical Costa Rican dish - their casados were among the best. I hope we get to go back when we return to Costa Rica for another vacation.

Eating here was a trip highlight. Sitting in the open air on the beach was wonderful. The best part was being in a place that locals also ate. The food was good. We came back the next day and the server remembered what I ordered.

We just stumbled upon this simple beach front restaurant while walking along the lovely cove behind Flamingo Beach, heading towards Protrero. Just a few benches and chairs ... but then the food came! A massive red snapper cooked to perfection and another plate of garlic jumbo shrimp. We returned a couple of days later and everything was just as outstanding.... More

I was very skeptical when we got here...walking on a dirt road etc... It was Christmas eve...the place was empty except two large groups who appeared very happy and loud...not a great start....but..the food was fantastic!!! Don't skip the avocado and shrimp appetizer or the ceviche its the best we had in thos region. The red snapper was so good,... More

Fine local restaurant right on the Potrero beach. Try Red Snapper, MahiMahi or Calamaries - daily fresh from the ocean!

We had a very tasty lunch here. I had the vegetarian casado (rice and beans) and others ordered the Mahi Mahi and chicken casado. It was the best value I have seen yet in the Playa Flamingo area. We were able to eat outside with a view over the bay. Definitely will return.

Went here cuz I heard that food was good and prices low. Ordered mani mahi and it came with fries that were cold, steamed veggies and a thin mahi mahi fillet with burned garlic. Can't recommend it

If you're looking for a good authentic soda shop this place is very good and very reasonable prices. They have authentic Tico food, specializing in seafood like mahi mahi, red snapper and more. It's got a family feel and it's right on the beach. It can be a bit tricky to find. As you get to the 90 degree left... More

This place was recommended by the locals. The first time we stopped here, our meal was great. The service was ok and the prices were reasonable. We had the Pescada Casado. I think the fish that day was Dorado. The second time we at there, the food wasn't as good and they short changed us. Usually I counted my change,... More

My wife probably wouldn't have eaten here based on its initial appearance, but all the good reviews on TA convinced her that it was worth a try. We are glad we tried it and will be back. We both had mahi-mahi: my wife's was lightly breaded and the fish was flakey and light; mine was in lemon butter sauce and... More
