The Lookout is a seafood restaurant and oyster bar located in Playas Del Coco, Guanacaste. We are the first and only restaurant in town to stock live oysters, to be eaten raw on the half shell or prepared in a number of other ways. We are also the first and only place in town to serve Costa Rican craft beers on tap. The view from our establishment is truly priceless and the menu showcases the freshest seafood that the Pacific has to offer. We hope to see you soon!

The Lookout has the best view of Coco! You feel like you are floating above the town.......then taste the beer. Enter heaven instantly. I recommend Pelona for the IPA fans (my favorite) or Maldita Vida for the most experienced pallate (over 10% alcohol). They have three different local brew masters to pick from and craft beer from California too, so... More

Beyond all expectations. The head chef keeps a consistent menu of amazing plates. The tuna poke nachos are something we order regularly. The oysters in raw and grilled forms are to die for. And the view is the best in playas del coco.

We went there right as it opened (3 PM) for our Happy Hour and a lite meal before we headed to the airport. Service was friendly and efficient. We shared several appetizers which were very good. They did not have any oysters that day. The view is terrific. Parking is easy below the hotel. Locals and gringos filled half the... More

We had a great stay in this hotel in Feb and visited The Lookout almost nightly. The food was probably one of the best out of all the restaurants we visited in our 6 week vacation. Nothing nicer than sitting with a glass of wine and a appy while looking at that amazing view. Friendly staff and great service! Highly... More

When I am in Playas del Coco, one of my first stops is The Lookout! The Chef does a great job of executing delicious dishes from his open view kitchen. One of my favourite items on the menu is the steak and potato skewers. I also love the grilled oysters. The staff and the service is great. A welcome new... More

A nice rooftop bar and restaurant with a great view (we went at night but it is well located on top of a mountain) the waiter was a very helpful and funny guy, explained us that there were no oysters left so we ordered some specials and the best Tuna Nachos you could think of, instead of Corn Tortilla chips... The view at this restaurant is lovely, very scenic. We did not try the tapas menu and perhaps that's where we went wrong. The one item we were all interested in, on the Tapas menu was the stuffed mushrooms and they didn't have any. We did try Avocado Fries which were one of the specials the night we were there... More

I am happy to read that, by the sounds of it, you mostly enjoyed your experienc at our restaurant. That said, I would like to clarify two things: we have never opened later than 3pm. Our hours of 3pm-10pm have been consistent on every single day since we first opened our doors ten months ago. The only schedule changes we... More

I am the owner of a competing restaurant, the Father Rooster. I am a bit more critical than most. Lookout is great. The food quality is great and improving. They have excellent draft beers, a rarity in Costa Rica and the owners are directly involved in the operation putting their own spin on things. I have been 5-6 times now... More

This review may sound a little biased but the only thing I like more than fresh seafood is craft beer. This place is amazing, located on the penthouse floor of a hotel on top of a cliff. Some other reviewers were concerned about the drive but it was 2-3 mins up a paved road. The view is unbelievable and the... More
