Delicious fresh and selfmade dishes served next to the beautiful national park Barra Honda. The perfect place to start or end your trip to the caves while having a talk with the lovely owner. I will come back for sure!

Cafe Kura is a charming cafe found just outside the entrance of Barra Honda National Park (found a short drive outside of Nicoya). Right from the start, you are met with a colorful gate and artwork at the front entrance, and a bright vivid building painted in inviting colors. The cafe is run by an outgoingly wonderful German woman named... More

The first day I went to Cafe Kura I was greeted with a warm welcome and honestly some of the best ice cream I have had in my life. I knew that I would come back....and I did almost everyday for my 3 month stay in Barra Honda National Park. In a dry forest location that is both beauiful and... More

Andrea, Andrea, Andrea! Cafe Kura is a colourful little oasis near the enrtrance to Parque Barra Honda, run by a wonderful, helpful, friendly woman named Andrea. Andrea saved us from what might have been a total disaster of a day trip. Set us up with a place to stay in the area that honestly became the highlight of our trip.... More

Cafe Kura is a great restaurant, with a great owner! Andrea is incredibly nice and a great host, as well as a great cook! The homemade icecream is some of the best I've ever had, the peanutbutter icecream is amazing! If you are ever in the NIcoya area check this place out!

We enjoyed the delicious ice cream and milkshakes after our hike and cave exploring in Barra Honda. I also loved the beautiful and original handmade jewelry and clothing Andrea (the owner) carries. She makes a real effort to sell handcrafted items made by local women. Great stop!

Café Kura is a really charming, nice place, perfectly situated on the way to the national park of Barra Honda. Not only the food is delicious (we tried the homemade icecream), most important the owner Andrea from Germany is a superfriendly, warmharted, welcoming person who makes your stop at Café Kura a never-forget-experience!! Thanks so much! :-)

We did not have time to wait to go in the caves, as a big group had just gone in, so we just did the forest walk. Sadly we did not see anything except trees, not a thing moved. We were very disappointed until we stopped at Cafe Kura which is just on the road to the park. The owner... More

Very nice Lady runs this cafe. She is originally from Germany. I arrived at the very start of the season in Nov, just before she was officially opened and she accommodated me. Sat and chatted, there was a bit of damage in the country from an earthquake a few months ago. Nice smoothie, bottled water and I bought some jewelery... More
