Excellent food in a charming old Costa Rican "grand mansion". Everything was delicious. I think the chef was french; service was very good. Can't wait to go back.

We had 2 English speakers and 2 Spanish learners. The waitress deftly handled our table + 3 other tables and our food (fajitas, chicken sandwich, and chicken Casado) was very tasty with modest portion sizes, which is something I really like. We had a nice time chatting with her about the house history in English and Spanish.

We were walking around Liberia for an afternoon and found the older district (1820s) where the Cafe Liberia and the Hotel Liberia are located. We were staying in the city because of its proximity to the airport for our last night. The few blocks surrounding the cathedral are worth a visit. At the cafe we had a very nice frozen... More

I was fully prepared to be disappointed in cafe Liberia after the waitress informed me that they did not offer beer. However my disappointment quickly disappeared when the guacamole and chips arrived. This was quite likely the best guacamole that I have ever eaten in my life. The waitress went on to recommend the special of the day which was lasagna.... More

I was very pleased with my experience at Cafe Liberia. So pleased that when I returned to Costa Rica two years later this was my first morning coffee stop! I accidentally discovered this little treasure a few years ago while on a morning foot exploration of Liberia. It was so quiet and peaceful and the coffee, simply wonderful. The Frenchman... More

We had to roam the streets of Liberia quite a while to find this Cafe, since it had moved somewhat recently and the address we had wasn't up to date. But it was so worth the hunt! The restaurant is now in a restored historic and glamorous home. It is small and personal, and the staff are very welcoming and... More

If you want something a little different than typical Costa Rican, this is a great place. My Vegetarian sandwich was delicious. Friends had burgers which were outstanding. Service was great. If you come during the day you can enjoy the beautiful outdoor area. Desert sounded good but was disappointing. On the pricier side.

We stopped in for lunch and the kitchen was closed, but they made us sandwiches and salads. It was the best meal we had in Costa Rica.

We wandered into Liberia early one evening, tired and lost. The friendly staff at Cafe Liberia walked us down the street to help us find our accommodations. This hospitality continued when we returned that evening for dinner. The space is a lovely, historic building with old wood and high ceilings. The food is fantastically fresh, blending traditional Costa Rican food,... More
