We wandered into Liberia early one evening, tired and lost. The friendly staff at Cafe Liberia walked us down the street to help us find our accommodations. This hospitality continued when we returned that evening for dinner. The space is a lovely, historic building with old wood and high ceilings. The food is fantastically fresh, blending traditional Costa Rican food,... More

While studying Spanish in the city, I frequented Cafe Liberia daily. Sometimes I just went in for a glass of wine, other times lunch or their amazing lemonade. The cafe is a historic building and has a killer back patio. Try the vegetarian sandwich.

The food at Cafe Liberia is really great. Try the sandwiches and the quesoburgesa - but only if you're not lactose intolerant. So. Much. Cheese. The service is always outstanding - both staff members will go above and beyond to help you out. The atmosphere is great in such an old, classic building. Although it runs a little more pricey... My group ate at this restaurant three times and loved it. Food is very good, the best we had in Liberia. Ingredients are fresh and everything was well prepared. This isn't high end cuisine, but we were very happy with every meal. The two people who work there are great; both are very friendly and helpful, and they go out... More

Our party of six adults and one toddler enjoyed lunch at the Café Liberia. The ceviche was outstanding - great texture and perfect lime flavor. The fajitas were sizzling hot, served with corn tortillas and plenty of onions and peppers. Our little one was served first and enjoyed chicken tenders and fries and lots of attention from our waitress. Terrific... More

I have been to restaurants from Seattle to the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. This place is the most charming and quaint place in which I have ever dined. The restaurant is located in a 160 year old house, which was at one time used as a coffee trading house. It has original appearing wood trim and shutters,... More

What a wonderful old renovated building. The food is delicious and the owners really take pride in the building. Great ceviche, chicken fajitas and hamburgers. If staying in the Liberia area, it's definitely worth the trip.

We accidentally stumbled into this place because of the buildings rustic facade. The court yard proved to be interesting, offering small areas of quiet and privacy. The worn furniture added a cozy, authentic feel to the experience. We enjoyed a bit of wine and conversation. Had we seen the pictures on Trip Advisor earlier, we would have ordered some of... More

Had a great lunch at Cafe Liberia. Great atmosphere and would probably eat there weekly if I lived in Costa Rica! Was fortunate to hear music from Rada and her pianist rehearsing in one of the back rooms.
