On our trip from Arenal area to the west coast of CR we stopped at this place for lunch. The food was some of the best we had on the entire trip! However...the best part was the view of Lake Arenal from the back of the restaurant. The owner and cooks were great as well. So glad we made this... More

Worst meal of our entire trip. Would have rated it poor but for the great view and the delicious desserts. The chicken with salad was terrible; thin, dry and tough as shoe leather, and horribly seasoned, it "repeated" for hours. Turkey sandwich made with turkey loaf-style cold cut (tasted better without the turkey). Were hungry so we ate it. Big... More

We stopped by at Cafe y Macadamia during our trip around Lake Arenal. It was a good decision. A great spot, with beautiful view over the lake, good cappuccino and espresso and homebaked cake. Also bought some local coffee and souvenir here. The people running this place were great, friendly and willing to help.

Beautiful views, fantastic desserts and kick-butt coffee and lattes! Super friendly staff and Marco the owner is incredibly gracious! He took lots of time with us and encouraged us to sit for a moment (Pura Vida!) and enjoy! Very glad that we did. They grow macadamia nuts here!!! For real and you'll find them in the desserts that they make... More

It's small and slightly out of the way on your trip to or from Arenal, but Marco, the proprietor, makes everything worth it. He speaks both English and Spanish (his English is very good) and greets you as you enter, making sure you have everything you need. His staff watches your car while you are in, and he sells both... My wife and I were on our honey moon and decided to take our own tour to Arenal. On our way we saw this small cafe and signs on the side of the road. Thank goodness we stopped here as it was a fantastic meal and view. The staff was informative and friendly and we met the owner who was... More

We stopped at Cafe y Macadamia because it looked like it had a great view. The food and beverages matched the view. The highlight was the chocolate, mango smoothie, and coffee drinks we ordered. They looked as good as they tasted. The sandwiches and fruit completed out lunch.

The place has great terrace with a amazing view. Perfect to enjoy their delicious cakes and cookies. We did not tried the lunch but it smelled and looked great. Together with the fresh fruit juices and ice coffees it makes a perfect combination. Certainly worth a stop

We stopped here for lunch during our drive from the Gulf of Papagayo to La Fortuna. The view was amazing as it over looks rolling hills stretching down to the 22 mile long and 190 ft deep, Lake Arenal. The cafe is very cute with ample outside shaded seating. It is surrounded by gardens where they grow a variety of... More
