Clean, tasty and local

We spotted this soda whilst looking for a bank. There were loads of locals making a beeline to this place which is always a good sign. We opted for casados the usual Costa Rican combination plate consisting of rice, beans, salad, yuca chips and an entree which cost 3,000 colones each and comes... read more

Inexpensive and absolutely delish! I'd even plan my vacation around meals at this place! They have this delicious homemade hot sauce that's kept on the tables that I sooooo wish they sold bottles of it! Do yourself a favor, and add this to your must do list!

Clean place to eat. Typical Tico plates here in American style interior. Food was basic but good. Fast service. Good location, only 200 m from central parc of La Fortuna.

My husband and I were looking for a place where we could get a traditional Costa Rican meal because we love the food here, but I was surprised how many American-style restaurants there are! We asked one of our tour guides where the locals eat, he recommended this place and we were not disappointed. We both had the chicken al... More

Came here 10 minutes before closing(7pm). We didn't realize that sodas are mainly for lunch and close very early. The owners were very nice and welcomed us in so pretty much we had the place all by ourselves. Had the Costa Rican national dish (Chuleta) pork chop with Gallo Pinto and Plantain again. The food was pretty tasty and the... More

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have many reviews... Maybe because it's definitely a local place but is the bet soda I think!!! We were told to go here by the front desk person at our hotel. The first time we went look for it we couldn't find it an decided to eat somewhere else. The next day we... More

We went here on the recommendation of our horseback riding guide Eric. We were the only tourists there and there was a steady stream of students, workmen, drivers, and other Costa Ricans. The food was quickly prepared and nicely presented. The place is clean and friendly and reasonably priced. The menu is typical Costa Rican diner (Soda). Highly recommended.

Based on a recommendation from a shop owner, we stopped at soda Ara. It is a local hangout and we found no tourists there. The food was the best in the area and the prices were great. Amazing casados (we had one beef and one grilled chicken). Delicious fresh juices. My only regret is not going back day after day.
