Benedictus is located in a volcano slope with a unique view of the valley o La Palma de la Fortuna and Monterrey. The restaurant its a beautiful wood building surrounded by pasture land and primary forest overlooking the valley. The lamb, cattle, pork and chicken we serve are breaded free range in the farm and we bring the vegetables from Tapezco a little town two hours away from Fortuna, where Mr. Juan Jose Paniagua, a Pioner in the organic agriculture in Costa Rica, produce the best organic vegetables. We are 800 metros away of the main road that link La Fortuna with the Arenal Lake. The gate its just in Front of the Volcano Lodge Hotel.

Best steak ever.

This place is fantastic. Everything was absolutely delicious. I wish I had gone before sunset, because I've heard the views are incredible. They would have to be, considering the drive to get there. This place is fantastic. Everything was absolutely delicious. I wish I had gone before sunset, because I've heard the views are incredible. They would have to be, considering the drive to get there. Oscar is truly wonderful--what a gentle spirit, and definitely aims to please. Of course the meats were fantastic, but also they made some incredible seafood soup, and... More

The menu says "come for the view, stay for the food". We came at night, hence for the food -- no view by night --, and we were not disappointed. The steak special was very good; the tenderloin in pepper sauce excellent. Only the atmosphere was a bit downbeat: the place looks like the kitchen in a smallish Swiss chalet,... More

Although it has been covered in detail, yes it is a steep drive, but if you learned to drive on NC mountain roads, heck, its not that bad. I do recommend you do the drive in a vehicle which has decent clearance. Andre our waiter said they are aware the road is bad, but they are going to do a... More

I heard nothing but great things about the restaurant...which is why my husband and I tried to go. It says open for lunch, but lunch doesn't start until 2pm. My purpose in this post is simply to warn the renters of low riding cars that the driveway up to the restaurant is not without challenge. It is up the mountain,... More

One hairy road. On a dark rainy night you'd swear there were zombies to either side of you. Good food, for C.R. standards, not too exceptional though. The lamb was not trimmed all that well and didn't have the flavor of a wood fire. Was not impregnated with rosemary, just some sprigs on it and they called it rosemary lamb.... More

We just finished dinner and we were very impressed. The ride in was a little daunting in the rain, but once we got there it was a wonderful experience. Our waiter was very nice and made some great suggestions. We started with a half order of the house ceviche and it was delectable. Super fresh! After I had the avocado... More

First you need to conquer some lenght of typical monteverdian dirtroad but once there you will dine good food for good prices. The fish they serve is not the boring seabarse everyone serves, but swordfish and catfish.I would recommend going here if you have a good car available.

There are spectacular views from this lovely mountain top restaurant a short drive from the resorts around La Fortunata. After a morning Arenal forest hike we drove to this farm with a chalet like restaurant that served very affordable and delicious lunches and dinners. The limonada is to die for with its freshly squeezed limes. I had the grilled chicken... More

We found this restaurant through Trip Advisor and were disappointed. They aren't kidding about the drive up. It is a single lane road about 1 km long up hill to get to the place. We went in the evening and you couldn't see any sort of a view, however I bet it is amazing in the daylight. I ordered the... More

The chicken you get in a supermarket witch is the one most restaurants serve, are the result of a massive production inspired by Henry Ford with his assembly line production. They can not move and do not develop muscle. we produce our chicken free range and the meat its not as tender as those with no muscle. We have a... More

This is an organic restaurant that makes all it's own cheeses and butchers there own meat. (This upset my vegetarian sister who was with me) But when I ordered the lamb I was told it was slaughtered this morning. Flavor was great. "PURA VIDA"
