Came with hotel breakfast

My family and I stayed at Hotel Monte Real so this place was where the complimentary breakfast was located. I picked the traditional breakfast that our driver suggested, " gallo pinto" which is rice and beans, and it was delicious. It came with eggs, fried plantain, costa rican cheese and tortillas.

Pretty bad. It was hot, no air flow, and the food was barely passable. Hamburger was the best dish out of the five our family ordered. Stay away from the nachos. They were disgusting.

We went there late around 9pm and we were their 2nd customers there. We hesitated as it seemed lonely but the receptionist at the hotel had recommended us that place. We had the Beef Casado which was the dish of the day with a Tamarindo juice. Both were really good and inexpensive. I recommend this place

Ate here at least once a day over our 5 day stay. Food was authentic Tico style and we were never disappointed. Full meals for 2 people for under $15 total (we are vegetarian). Service is also excellent. No alcohol, but they do have good fruit smoothies.

My friend ordered a "casado" which is a common Costa Rican meal with rice, beans, salad and your choice of meat. I had the garlic shrimp (camarones al ajillo) dish. We were satisfied with the quality and amount of food we were served (my friend couldn't finish her "Arroz con Leche" dessert). It's a small restaurant so it took a... More

This soda is a bit more expensive than one down the street, yet it is 100% better! You can't go wrong with anything you get.

We liked the food that we had for dinner at Cabinas y Soda El Rio. The waitress was friendly and helpful and we were served our fresh made meals in a very timely manner. Prices for the meals were quite reasonable.

This restaurant is just off the main drag and a little quieter than some of the places on the square. They have great rice and chicken! I highly recommend a stop in this restaurant

Local Tico food in a comfortable, casual open to the street small restaurant. The service was slow on one of the three times we ate there and the food was all right each time. The only reason we ate their three times was because the place we stayed (Monte Real Hotel) offered their free breakfast there. The location is close... More
