A friend of ours who lives in La Fortuna, invited us to join her here. The restaurant has been in her family for many years and we were very interested as she told us the history of it while we sipped refreshing drinks at the exterior bar. We didn't have any idea what to expect when we arrived, but the... More

This place is a gem in a sea of mediocre casual restaurants. We ate there twice in three days, it was that good. Great gazpacho, burgers, tuna tartar, etc. This chef knows and cares about food. Service was good, TVs in the bar if you are trying to watch NCAA basketball! Open air atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone who wants... More

Don Rufino's offers a wide range of options, but stick to the items noted as customer favorites - they will not steer you wrong. :) We loved the atmosphere, warm, casual. Only complaint was our waitress was extremely slow. She also didn't speak English (but we should've been prepared to speak Spanish). It seemed they may have been short handed.... More

We had a very good dinner at Don Rufino. I had the fillet steak which was made exactly to my taste. My wife is a vegetarian and sensitive to lactose and the waiter offered suitable variations on several items in the menu to address her needs. They have a good selection of wine and beers. One advice: reserve your table... More

Didnt blow me away but I was a bit "steaked out" after a few days there! I ate the Grandma's Chicken which was great - my friend's pork ribs were ok but not fantastic Resto was a little warm but the fans were fine - definitely pre-book when in Arenal. I didnt see anywhere else worth eating at

One of our more $ meals but well worth it! Attentive staff and amazing food! I got the filet mignon wrapped in bacon. Do not order it more than medium. Great steak with lots of flavor, mashed potatoes and salad. Beautiful presentation! Very clean!

We liked this place a lot and several locals told us this was their favorite place in La Fortuna. The food was really delicious!

My daughter really wanted to go here based on reviews... I had the Son Rufino cocktail and I did not taste any alcohol in it and had no buzz at all- I am a cheap date with very low alcohol tolerance. My daughter had a glass of wine and the amount poured was not Mich at all... Stingey of the... More

The food was excellent. I am a vegetarian so I was very glad to see they had vegetarian options. The place is a bit expensive but then quality of food makes up for that. If you going there do try their cold soups.. simply yumm.... From the restaurant you can see the arenal volcano mountain top which is breath taking.... More

Tasty food and nice atmosphere but I wouldn't recommend this place. I'd rather tell people about soda viquez - a local place just round the corner where you don't have to wait too long for you food and it's awesome. Anyway, back to Rufino. We were told to book a table but this was not necessary as it wasn't too... More
