This was recommended within the CR Lonely Plant book, so we gave it a go and it was 5 ***** (stars). Top notch food with very nice wine. Want the best meal you've ever had, with very good staff - then go here! Plus, the best, cleanest and most electronic toilets I've ever used.

The Grandma's Chicken I had was amazing. Companion's risotto was bit too rich and not too balanced but still decent. Nice place but prices bit steep. About 50 bucks for that and 2 beers. Didn't stop us going back (though partly for convenience's sake) for lunch following day. Two drinks and two burgers was 25 bucks and very good. Place... More

The dinner we had at Don Rufino was very good. It certainly is the most talked about restaurant in town and it's worth experiencing for yourself.

The ceviche is outstanding! Five-star dining in downtown Fortuna. A varied menu / international cuisine.

Two families who were visiting La Fortuna ate dinner together at Don Rufino and we all had a fabulous meal that was absolutely comparable (or better) than many restaurants that I've eaten at in Canada and the US. Everything was fresh and an amazing blend of flavors. The cost of restaurant meals in Costa Rica is on the expensive side... More

My husband and I stopped here for lunch. My husband had a massive beef and pork hamburger served with a heap of fries. I had the casados with grilled chicken. This is a typical local lunch plate with a variety of side dishes, and in this case, a piece of nicely grilled chicken. The perfect lunch after a river float... More

We ate here for dinner twice while we were in town. The lasagna was some of the best I have ever had. Wine prices seemed a little high, but beer and cocktails were decently priced so we stuck with those. The NY steak comes with a delicious sauce/oil type of thing. Very good! I would make reservations and we had... More

We ate at Don Rufino for Valentine's Day, when they had a pre-fixe menu available that included 5 courses and a glass of wine. We were extremely impressed with how amazing the food was! Each course offered a unique blend of flavors, and the overall experience was terrific. The plates were a bit small for me, but my fiancee did... More

We stayed in La Fortuna one night and our hotel recommended we have dinner here! We both had seafood dishes and were very happy! Great flavors, perfect balance of flavors and textures! We strive to find fabulous food and were not disappointed!
