This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.

Excellent Place for Local Food

This restaurant is great to enjoy traditional Tico food. The Casados are a great example of what you can expect at this restaurant. A Casado is a platter that contains rice, beans, a hard-boiled egg, corn tortillas, cheese, plantains, a salad and picadillo Tico. A Casado always includes a meat of... read more

This was a great restaurant for dinner and dessert! Wonderful comida tipica, as well as steaks and chicken. Berry cheesecake and Apple Pie topped off a fabulous meal.

Went the with co-workers after visiting the volcano and La Paz Waterfalls. Good place that serves typical food. Try the cheese tortillas and for desert the baked rice pudding.

Many people referred us to eat here either on the way up or back from our day trip to Poas Volcano--as it's some kind of pretty famous restaurant. It's a nice, spacious property with tons of tree coverage and greenery--I can see the appeal and reason for the recommendations. We stopped for breakfast on the way back down from Poas... More

Our group of 16 arrived hungry, and left stuffed. The portions are large. I ordered some appetizers and was completely full. Everything tasted delicious. Our server was amazing. The service in general was great. Would love to go back.

I know this place and have visited plenty of times. Although it is a great place to eat, we recently had a very unpleasant experience with the service. The lady who waitered our table was not nice at all, seemed to want ro rush us to order (not easy with young children) and made us feel unwelcome. A real disappointment... More

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a well-known restaurant on the route to the Poas volcano. It is very popular and gets crowded, especially on weekends. I went on a weekday about 12:45 p.m. and our group of 5 was seated immediately and it wasn't very busy.. By the time we left though, the place was full. I was... More

Chubascos is a great restaurant located on the route to the popular Poas Volcano National Park in Costa Rica. Its an excellent place to stop and have lunch after visiting the volcano. It has great variety of Costa Rican typical local dishes, all well done and well served. The ambiance of the place is wonderful and provides a relax atmosphere... More

This is maybe the most visit restaurant when you go up or dawn from the Poas Volcano in Alajuela Costa Rica. This is a steak house restaurant but offers other options for your choice. The restaurant is rustic but it is perfect and according to the zone. They also offer lodging in rustic cabins. if you want to have a... More
