This restaurant had the best food and service of all the places where we ate in Costa Rica. Family owned and always on site. Cozy, very clean, and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. Friendly and helpful staff. I highly recommend the casados, a local dish - delicious! I ate it in other restaurants but it couldn't be compared to Chubascos. I swear I could eat that every day. For dessert, try the home made apple pie (Costa Rican apples) and the arroz con leche. Ah, and do not forget to try their natural fruit drinks. Their coffee is pretty good too.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere

As other reviewers have mentioned, this is a well-known restaurant on the route to the Poas volcano. It is very popular and gets crowded, especially on weekends. I went on a weekday about 12:45 p.m. and our group of 5 was seated immediately and it wasn't very busy.. By the time we left though... read more

Chubascos is a great restaurant located on the route to the popular Poas Volcano National Park in Costa Rica. Its an excellent place to stop and have lunch after visiting the volcano. It has great variety of Costa Rican typical local dishes, all well done and well served. The ambiance of the place is wonderful and provides a relax atmosphere... More

This is maybe the most visit restaurant when you go up or dawn from the Poas Volcano in Alajuela Costa Rica. This is a steak house restaurant but offers other options for your choice. The restaurant is rustic but it is perfect and according to the zone. They also offer lodging in rustic cabins. if you want to have a... More

Beautiful setting in the country. This is a great stop after going to Poas Volcano or La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Our party of 4 had a wonderful time, We were greeted as soon as we arrived and although most of the tables were full or service was fast and friendly. We had great guacamole with fresh homemade chips, followed by... More

this is a lovely restaurant with great food. The picadillos and empanadas de plátano are great, but the tortillas aliñadas are the best plate of the place. Totally recommended. The only thing is that you have yo be patient because is always full.

Friends rave about this location. It is popular on weekends and many families go here. Of course, most of the children know nothing of discipline and are disruptive to other diners. That being said, I was served almost RAW chicken. After sending it back to be cooked, I still had two pieces undercooked. Go for the desserts, eat your main... More

We had lunch here due to the fact a friend said this place had the best batidos! The food was very good but the batidos was even better! The service was a little slow but it was busy. Great for kids because they have a play area in the side yard. Worth the stop!

Never disappoints! The quality of the food is amazing! Simply go when coming back from visiting the volcano. I promise you won't be dissapointed. The tortilla aliñada is one of the best plates of the house. Can't wait to go back.
