Always good with great river location

Great dining with a great location. I prefer to sit in the bar area. Big glass windows give better views of river

We had the seafood platter and it all was deep fried to death. The menu said something about fried but for me this means prepared in a pan. The catfish, the scampi and even the oyster were dry and really dead. The sauce didn't fit. I'm really sorry for the fish because it deserved better treatment. The location is great... More

Seated promptly, excellent view, downhill from there! Multiple times(4) for myself we sat with empty glasses, the place was very noisy. Food, when it finally came after an hour and a half, had fair flavor but we are still trying to figure out how they cook without getting the food beyond lukewarm?? I have been here several times over the years... More

Awesome restaurant! I hesitate doing a review only because I don't want them to get any busier. I recommend making a reservation. We've eaten then numerous times as we travel through the area. Shrimp & grits: amazing! And I don't normally like them. The cheese grits are crazy good! Again not generally much of a fan. And the breads! You... More

With a son in school at Bama we have visited the Cypress Inn often. It is always great. The service is superior, the view is outstanding and the food is excellent. Shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, and the fish dishes are not to be missed. This place is a must visit when you are in Tuscaloosa.

Given the CI's legendary status as one of THE eateries and watering holes for "Bama students, fans and alumni, I had visions of a long wait -- due to the fact we did not have a reservation and we were in the vortex of about 30,000 students and parents on campus for Orientation and start of the academic year. We both had the smoked chicken and it was excellent. Sides were fried pan corn, squash and turnip greens.. also excellent. Our server was excellent and made the entire meal a great experience. We were seated quickly and the view of the river was tremendous. We used to come here often and then quit after a few not so great... More

Great service, great way to show northerns a taste of the south without compromising class of Restaurant. They were able to have fried green tomatoes and grits with out going to a hole in the wall style place . Great food ! Must haves include the bread and tartar sauce is excellent.

The blackened tilapia was very good. Shrimp and grits were very heavy, the cheese was just too much.

I had the Cypress Shrimp pasta dish. Pretty good but just needed to be little spicier for my taste. Otherwise delicious. Great views of boats as they go by on the Black Warrior river. This was my first time here but will return. It is worth the drive from the Birmingham area. Great atmosphere if you want to impress a... More
