Nick's in the Sticks

This is one of those fabulous eating joints that only the locals seem to know about. It looks like a run down snack on the outside. The sign is gone. The only way to find it, is for a local person to tell you...or you just keep on driving. The outside does not inspire wanting to stop. Inside... read more

I love small, local hole in the wall places. We arrived early as we were told that it fills up fast. My husband had the porterhouse and my son and I ordered the ribeye. The steak was perfectly seasoned and juicy. We all ordered rare/medium rare and got well done. The onion rings were very good, some a bit undercooked.... More

The filet is awesome. Very reasonably priced. Great atmosphere. Be prepared to wait on the weekend. Popular spot for university of Alabama students.

Absolutely the best restaurant in tuscaloosa! Get there at 4:45 or you will have to wait 2-3 hours for a table. We have waited that long before and was WELL worth the wait. It is a " hole in the wall" and I say that extremely complimentary! Steaks are fantastic, service is fantastic! You will not be disappointed !

Not having been to Nicks since I graduated the U of A in 1982, I looked forward to going back. The atmosphere was the same ( casual) and the food and drinks were better then I remembered. Probably because I only had a couple of Nicodemius"s If ever in T-Town it is a must.

It's a small place and the tables are really really close together. Limited and descriptive menu. Service was extremely slow and my steak was more well done than medium rare. The rolls were cold and we watched the waiter take the dressing for our salads off our table and just put it on another table so I wouldn't be surprised... More

My family and I went out for my early birthday dinner to "Nicks-in-the-Sticks". We came around 5:30 that night thinking surely it shouldn't be too packed yet, we were wrong. We were put on the waiting list and went to the bar to wait. The atmosphere is small, old and simple. We waited so long we went through 3 drinks and... More

Nicks-in-the-Sticks as I fondly remember it, isn't really about high quality food, but rather, an overall experience. My mom ate here back in the 70's when she was in college at UA so she took me when I went there. Every time I've ever been there, it's always been a two hour wait. Impatient foodies probably would blow a gasket... More

I have never written a review for a restaurant before, but after eating here I can't help myself. After reading so many great reviews about this place, my boyfriend and I decided to go for supper. Well, I don't know if we just had a bad server or what, but I do not understand what is so great about Nick's.... More

We took our in laws here and no one left unhappy. The mixed drinks are dangerous and great. Everything is more than reasonably priced and the quality is such that you would gladly pay more for. The server was very friendly and attentive too.
