We have been to the Cajun Steamer in Trussville many times. And we have gotten the snapper LOTS! It is so consistently good we order it again and again. Of course, sometimes it is cooked to slightly different levels of "doneness" for lack of a better term. But I concede that in restaurants....you are not going to get the same... More

Much ado about nothing here. Service was good (typical southern hospitality) but the food was obviously prepared by someone who has never had a meal in Louisiana. Crawfish Etuffee was pathetic -rue was like soup from a can and crawfish were pea sized. Boiled seafood platter was okay, some was oversteamed, some under steamed. We were told that crawfish were... GO. Fresh seafood in a simple and bar like atmosphere. Best fried shrimp and catfish. The Tilapia was awesome and the accompanying sauces were great. Totally awesome were the fried green tomatoes and the crab cake appetizer. This isn't about Bulk....it's about flavor. If you're used to mediocre seafood but love mass quantities, this not the place for you. Our... More

I visited this restaurant with a friend who recommended it. It was a rainy and cold weeknight, yet there was a sizable crowd. I ordered the fried oysters, a personal weakness, and I thought they were just fine. The fries were better than I wanted them to be, so I ate more than I intended. There were a number of... More

This is a pretty good chain restaurant. When I go it is usually on business and the bill can get run up. The fried oysters are good as are the crayfish dishes. The service is good and it is like a sports bar with several TVs on. Overall you know what to expect and it is pretty good.

Not a fan of this place. If you like expensive and not much on your plate, this is the place to go. I just wanted some nice fried shrimp, but there was no way to get that without ordering a $16+ platter with a bunch of stuff I didn't want with it. Also was not thrilled with the staff. For... More

We tried this restaurant twice because we love seafood; both times, the food was either poor or very average. The service was also mediocre. We have never gone back.

Get the Voodoo Chicken, be happy happy happy. Fun place, cold beer, think coastal bar feel. Menu has a nice variety.

I was in Trussville on business, I visited Cajun Steamer on Tuesday ans sat at the bar as usual for me and ordered the "Create your own".... Red Snapper with Louie sauce and dirty rice... it was excellent! Laura behind the bar was also excellent. I saw the sign that refered to all you can eat crawfish on Wed. I... More

Though they can pack in the crowds and stuff 'em with foodndrink, I did not find the quality or service worth a repeat offense. Calling this cajun cuisine is like calling Taco Bell authentic Mexican.
