We have eaten here quite a number of times---whenever we are going to or coming from Dauphin Island---and we have ALWAYS been happy with both the food and the service. This last visit we were lucky enough to meet and spend some time with the owner and his wife. They were kind enough to tour us through the kitchen and... More

Looking at the menu prices you would expect it to be a fine dining restaurant, but it is far from that. My wife had to use the restroom, she said you have to walk through the kitchen to get to it. She said the kitchen was very dirty and she said the bathroom looked like a converted utility closet. The... More

Not sure what I was expecting, but still was disappointed. We were only one of two tables on a Thur night, which in such a large place seemed empty. The server was very pleasant and food was decent, although I thought overpriced for what you got. I had the stuffed crab and it was just ok; my husband had the... More

They were out of so many items it became a joke at our table. They did not even try to be accommodating. The cleanliness of the bathrooms was awful. Had I see the bathrooms prior to eating, I would have high tailed it out! It did make for a funny memorable experience!

Bailey's is well known by locals for " delicious fish & grits" served on Wednesday. The fresh fried mullet, home made tartar & cocktail sauce are the best I've every had. It's the best place in the area for fresh fried LOCAL seafood from Flounder, Shrimp & the Wednesday " Fish & Grits".

OK, we had to try the West Indies salad because Bayley's is the birthplace. I guess you might have to grow up on this to appreciate it. The crab was nice and fresh, but the marinade just didn't have any taste. Salad was $7.95. We had the Tuesday night special of "All you can eat Shrimp" and Fried Oyster dinners.... More

Come for the West Indies crab salad and stay for the crab bisque, fried shrimp (all you can eat on Tuesdays & Thursdays), crab claws, and soft shells.

We dined here as a party of four at 7pm on a Saturday night. There were about 15 patrons out of an approximate capacity of 40, I would guess. The ceramic brick interior walls give the place a rather cold and dated atmosphere, but the building was a gas station/convenience store in the forties or fifties as I understand. The... More

With the price of white lump blue crab meat ever on the rise it is difficult to find what Bailey's once was famous for, West Indies salad. Properly done it is mainly crabmeat and only can be compared to the dish called ceviche. Seeing Bailey's as a "take out" place makes me wonder if they still make it in the... More

I'm not a local. We were vacationing on Dauphin Island and went out for date night (kids with sitter). We didn't want to drive all the way to the big city but read about another place in Theodore with good reviews. Planned on stopping at the other place but before we could turn around we stumbled upon Bayley's. The parking... More
