We ate here a couple of years ago when in the area and was looking forward to dining here on this trip. We were not disappointed. Still the same excellent sea food gumbo. My wife and I split a bowl of gumbo and a build your own seafood platter with Bourbon grilled Mahi, Flounder and shrimp. I selected the red... More

We had the best service with Brian seating us at the bar and serving us with a great attitude. :-) The chargrilled oysters were amazing!! And our platters were hot and delicious! Get the cheese grits! We will definitely be back!

The first restaurant I ate at on the causeway. Very good food, very good service, very busy at dinner time. Good value for the food, great oysters prepared in numerous ways. The atmosphere is pleasant to be in. Great restaurant overall !!!

Can it get any better than the Original Oyster House? What a great stop for seafood. They have a wonderful salad bar. Great prices on fresh crab claws. One of the best salad bars around. And the peanut butter pie-- amazing! My wife and I enjoyed a good meal there. I had the crab claws and seafood gumbo. You will... More

Four of us visited the seafood restaurant on the causeway between Spanish Fort and Mobile early (5:30) on a Monday evening. The restaurant was surprisingly busy. We were given an estimated 15 minute wait and were called in about 10 minutes. Obviously the staff knows how to handle large crowds of diners. The server promptly took drink orders then delivered... I submitted a review about a year ago that was much less than flattering, based on a bad experience. I dine at the Original Oyster House about 3-4 times per year, throughout the year, and it actually is about as good as it gets, at their price point, anymore on the Gulf Coast. I say that because availability and quality... More

We live nearby and I was delighted to get a giftcard from a client for Christmas. We brought the kids and everyone had a delicious meal with good service for a reasonable price. I am from Louisiana originally so I am hard to impress with seafood, and I have never had a bad meal here. There is a playground beneath... More

We stopped here on a recent road trip from Charlotte and found one of the best meals ever! We started out with a dozen fire grilled oysters that were to die for! My wife had the oyster salad and a cup of gumbo. I had the shorebird grill with cheese grits and turnip greens. The shorebird grill is shrimp and... More

We stopped here for some good causeway seafood. I had the raw oysters, salad and gumbo. The gumbo was perfect as were the oysters. Will eat here again.
