A great evening

We were sitting at the bar awaiting a table - at 5 o'clock the restaurant already has a long waiting line - when the bartender persuaded us to eat at the bar. Good idea! The service was great and the food a very interesting adaptation of the local seafood. The Fire Grilled oysters, which all the... read more

I eat here every time I'm in the area. I've had oysters prepared several different ways, I have not been disappointed with any of them. I've had the seafood platter it's delicious, my most recent meal was the lunch portion of the steamed shrimp and oysters with cheese grits and red beans and rice as my sides. It could be... More

We ate here on our way to Orange Beach. First time to eat here since Katrina. We split a fried seafood platter. The oysters were very small but I noticed on other orders of just oysters, they were bigger. The gumbo was good. The fish and shrimp were good and the atmosphere is nice. The bathrooms were terrible! Grafitti all... More

Fire-grilled oysters at The Original Oyster house are the best ever. They even put Dragos in second place. Great food, great service and great atmosphere!!!!

Ate dinner here recently with a group of six. Highlights were the Shrimp Au Gratin, cheese grits, barbecue butter shrimp. Lowlights were the fried green tomatoes, bourbon Mahi Mahi, fried shrimp and limited draft beer choices (no craft or local beers). Atmosphere is loud, people were generally very friendly (not so much our waitress but the bar and management staff).... More

Great view of the mobile river delta just capped off an equally great dinner. Good food and service with a most pleasant atmosphere. Fresh seafood prepared just right, the flame broiled oysters were just the start. You will not be disappointed at the original oyster house.

Thoroughly enjoyed the original recipe fire grilled oysters (which you can watch being prepared on the "fire grilled oyster cam"), the build your own platter with crab stuffed shrimp, bourbon glazed mahi, and shrimp scampi from the "build your own platter" menu; and topped it off with the bartender's own original creation- fresh key lime pie, tequila, and cointreau with... The wait staff was amazing. Kenzie made us feel like family. I had the pecan crusted sutchi. It was excellent and different. I also ordered a stuffed crab as a side, also yummy. At my table, everyone seemed happy with their meals. A co-worker ordered a po-boy and it was more than he could eat. The salad bar was sizable... More

I've been to the Original Oyster House several times over the past few years and it has always been a good dining experience. My latest visit was no exception. We had a family group of 10 and it was a busy night so we had to wait a while for a table, but it wasn't an unreasonable wait. Once seated,... More

We have been here twice over the past 6-7 years, and visited again yesterday. It was just as we remembered. Large selections from the menu, good size portions, and of course always fresh. Loved the view from the dinning room. Melody was great! (Our server) She handled our party of 10 with ease and confidence. Her recommendations from the menu... More
