Have eaten at M on the Bund many times over the years since they opened. And overall it has always been more on the good than on the bad side when it comes to their food. But this time I was shocked really. The food quality and flavour were poor; and for a an establishment of this standard I would... More

The M on the Bund had been recommended, but I really could not recommend the food and I did not feel it was good value. I had 2 entrees, lightly battered seafood, , who knows what was under the not so light batter, which was soggy and the ingredients tasteless ,followed by pasta, which was dry ,hard and tasteless also I... M on the Bund is a very reliable restaurant for up-market Western food in Shanghai. The views of the Bund are fabulous (although on this visit the outdoor terrace was closed because of renovations to the building) and the service is excellent. The wine menu is very interesting, and not as much of a rip-off as you would expect. The... More

Went to M on the bund for dinner last friday for the 2nd time. I was very disappointed about the quality. Goose lever was ok but you can find so much better in Shanghai (Cafe Montmartre is the best I know). Cod from Iceland looked like a piece of frozen square fish. Extremely boring and taste not really good. Even... More

We hadn't intended to eat 'Western' food during our short stay in Shanghai, but friends had recommended M on the Bund, and it was very close to the Salvo Hotel where we stayed, and also right near the river with all its lights and boats and tourists. Food is wonderful, service great, loved the tea and coffee cups (wish I'd... More

I went to M on the Bund whilst on business in Shanghai in 2006. I loved it. The food was exquisite, the atmosphere sophisticated and the service excellent. Going back on vacation seven years later with my wife, it was the first restaurant on our list. It was dreadful. A very odd menu. Formulaic service. The beef was completely overcooked... More

First note: the entire building is under scaffolding for facade renovation until at least June. Although M is on the top floor, the scaffolding poked up past the terrace walls so the view was somewhat obstructed. I was a little annoyed that the restaurant did not say anything when I made the reservation for a party of 6 (a treat... More

This was one of Shanghai best restaurants years ago. Good food, great atmosphere and reasonably prices. However, it has changed! food is average with very small portions and extremely high prices. For what it has to offer nowadays one can easily pick a different place in town, enjoy more and pay much less. The service is very good and the... More

My 2nd time in Shanghai and my second time at M on the Bund was as good if not better than the first time.......mmm food was awesome, melt in your mouth lamb, and the deserts are to die for......some say its pricey, but no different or many other classy restaurants, was much cheaper than the Hyatt and others...... Great food.... More

On a warm evening we sat out on the deck overlooking the city - truly beautiful. The service started well but the meals were rushed out without much break between entree and main course. The meals were quite dry (both the duck and the lamb). We were quite disappointed overall - now 'wow' factor. Also the wine list is very... More
