Awesome location for a beer garden/ restaurant overlooking the river and Bund. Unfortunately that's about the only reason to visit this branch of the Paulaner. You know there's a problem when the three beers you've ordered are delivered in under 1 minute.. warm and flat. Looks like they pour them and leave them sitting around for someone to order. We... I have visited Paulaner around half a dozen times during last few years. Here the pros and cons. The pros: -superb view on Huangpu river and Shanghai -outside seating area is good place to relax and watch nearby ships and touristboats -their beers are good. Wheat beer is awesome! -Wiener schnitzel is good and big enough -service is usually ok... More

The view, was of course beautiful, the food, not so good. The service was so-so, but it was very busy. If you want something "Western", I guess this would suffice, but it isn't wonderful. Like any other establishment offering foreign fare, it is expensive. A great place to have a beer and chat with friends, but enjoy quality cuisine? I'd... More

Eat outside for the excellent view of the river and city, especially when the Bund and tourist boats light up at night. Beer is excellent and food is good. Maybe a little pricey, but it's a welcome break from Chinese food all the time.

People will argue that it's not German, but who cares? The beer and food are good! And plenty of it. A vibrant place to relax and take in the youth of Shanghai. Very well run premises and a change from the norm. It's not cheap but loads of fun and is a must place to visit. Personally, highly recommended.

The Paulaner Biergarten delivers some kind of bavarian (not to mix up with german) food and beer in a pretty authentic environment. A true Biergarten in Bavaria is for sure different, but this is as close as you can get with 9000km distance. The food was for those not native from Germany very good and even for a German it... Loved it !!! A Busy crowded and Very Friendly place in Shanghai, with Authentic German Cuisine (I am not German but can appreciate some nice dishes), things like Brezel Tree as starter, and a basket of Superb Freshly Baked german bread with Pate, wow what a nice way to start, together with 0.5 liter of Wheat Paulaner Beer to gulp... Original big sized Paulaner beer, catch happy hour before 7pm for 50 percent discount. Food in large portion, live singing performance, a total western atmosphere, but you have to tolerate the cigarette smokes. Beautiful view of the Bund when sitting outdoor.

A great place to take friends and have a beer and some Western (German) food. Wonderful view of the Bund on the other side of the Huang Pu river especially at sun-set when the flood lights switch on putting the facades of the old buildings along the Bund in the flood light.
