went there and expected local food chain, fast and tasty, and that is what we got. a bit crowdy, but we we were able to get seats immediately, barely anyone speaks english, but they have english menues. you get tea on arrival, as a standard part of service. they are fast, food is delicious (had some beef noodles), and very... Plan on arriving before noon, which is when the crowds start pouring in. Cha's is modeled after a typical Hong Kong tea restaurant and the furniture and fixtures, right down to the old-school mosaic tiles and tiled walls are reminiscent of a traditional cha chan teng. Granted, the food is nowhere as good as the best cha chan teng I've... More

We had a good selection of food here after seeing various recommendations and found it to be nothing overly special.. we really were expecting a lot more and expecting some traditional fayre! First off, the menu is hard to see through the glass table top.. then we found the food a bit of a let down, the rice was mediocre,... More

Cha's is something altogether different! Amazingly busy and takes a while to work out how the system works. We visited on a lunchtime, after spending the morning in the French Concession. There were people waiting and it took a few minutes to find the guy in charge of the queue and indicate how many of us there were. After that... More

If you don't mind a 10 minutes queue, you can enter in a really Chinese restaurant, no tourists inside and delicious Cantonese cuisine. Menu is written both in Chinese and in English (no pictures available), service is very fast, environment very simple (you could also have to share table). Big portions, tasty food, cheap prices!

We are a middle aged couple and were taken to Cha's Restaurant, 30 Sinan Road Luwan District Shanghai by two young Chinese students. We had a great shared meal there and we were the only 'foreigners' at the tables. It was 4pm and the place was nearly full. I guess it depends what you order but our friends ordered for... More

We tried the branch at Xujiahui. It's much bigger than the eatery in Sinan Lu and the waiting time is cut down to around 20 minutes, if you are willing to share a table with other diners. Do try the bolo bun (pineapple like bun with butter) - it is absolutely delicious and a great start to the meal. We... More

I went to Cha's, 4 or 5 times during these last two months It's a perfect solution to eat good food at a low price. Two reasons which explain why it's so easy to go back there. Do not hesitate asking to other people (especially Chinese) some advices because there is a lot of dishes in the menu. They don't... More

Thought we would try here as had walked past before and always busy busy, so thought it must be good. How wrong we were. Waited the best part of an hour if not over that to get a table. What a waste of time!!! The service was average, the food was below average and not what we expected . And... More

Don't get what the hype is about this place. It's designed to reflect the traditional HK cafe and u get that together with the shabby service as well. Food is also not fantastic. Any roadside cafe in Hk serves better food. Besides, it's totally not worth the long wait and the jostling for a seat. Pass and move on.
